I’m curious as to why betraying can be done? I get betrayed very often because I usually try to pick up power weapons or power ups or something, but also sometimes it just happens because my teammate just wants to. At least if it’s possible why does it count towards your overall KD? I wish Social Playlists would at least implement what Warzone does where you can only get betrayed by a teammate driving in a vehicle. So is there a reason as to why betraying is the way it is?
Betraying has been part of Halo since its release, so bear with it

I know it has been it’s just frustrating that it counts towards your overall deaths. I would like to know if there’s a specific reason it’s allowed in Social Playlists, considering it isn’t in warzone.

It isnt in Warzone because otherwise people would constantly kill each other to steal their Reqs.

Yeah but so has horrendous splatter physics.
Just because something has been in the game since the beginning doesn’t mean it should stay as is.

And I’m so glad it isn’t in Warzone, but it’s still an issue in BTB for me and my girlfriend so I’m assuming it happens elsewhere pretty often.
Betrayal is implemented so that you have to act mature while playing the game. Those who betray get kicked and it looks bad on them. The better players can prevent betraying their teammates by watching where they are shooting and throwing grenades.

Couldn’t have said it better, I love this game franchise and I’m not that bothered by the splatter physics. But man getting betrayed is annoying.

The problem is that I never get the option to boot them. I’m completely fine if my teammate kills me on accident. But I often get killed for Sniper, Camo, Etc but never get the option to boot.
Purposely betraying a teammate makes me mad, I was in Team Arena CTF last night and as I got killed I saw a teammate betray my other teammate just to get the flag and capture, damn had I saw it happen in front of me I would have kicked his -Yoink- for it as there is no excuses but yes it happens…
Edit: I agree and stand corrected with Chimera30’s comments on retaliation against a betrayer, good suggestions thank you.
Betrayals are the ultimate result of too much friendly fire.
Friendly fire exists in Halo as an additional consideration for tactical decisions. Friendly fire was likely designed to encourage players not to go “balls to the wall” crazy with power weapons when allies were near. Like, if you see an enemy near an ally and all you have is a rocket launcher; in that case, no friendly fire would make it too easy to deal with that enemy, but with friendly fire you have to be careful.
The unfortunate thing about Friendly Fire is its capacity to be abused. Hence why ban systems and other consequences are in place (in part). The occasional betrayal isn’t that big an issue; hell, without friendly fire, we wouldn’t have the comedic stylings of snickerdoodle with a sniper rifle. But it is a problem when you get players who intentionally betray, either so that they can steal weapons or “for the lulz” or whatever their reasoning is. The ban system is pretty sensitive to betrayals, but griefers are getting smarter about how they grief these days, so it’s becoming difficult to get them booted from games.
Here’s my recommendation: never betray a griefer in retaliation. Stooping to their level means they win and you’ll probably get banned. If you encounter players who betray you or excessively friendly fire on you, you should do your best to ignore them and stick out the game. After the game, report the players on Xbox Live for Unsporting Conduct (or whatever option is most relevant). You may also want to consider Blocking those players on Xbox Live; this will prevent them from messaging you, sending you invites, seeing your game activity, and (for some games) prevent you from matching with them.
Are you really getting betrayed to where it’s affecting your K/D? That would be like getting betrayed at least 10 or 15 times a game. There is an option to boot, but you have to get betrayed by that person 2 or 3 times. I think it’s more in Grifball. If the option was available after the first time, then people would be getting booted for accidental betrayals all the time.
I’m sure it could be improved on, but I don’t think it’s a high priority with 343.

Not the point where it’s noticeable but it is frustrating non the less. I probably get betrayed on an average of every 1 in 3 games.
Yea it would be nice is friendly fire was removed completely.

I’d agree, but I get betrayed probably once or twice every two or three games, and I haven’t been given the option to boot someone in months. If they fixed/changed the booting system, it’d be a lot less annoying, and eventually people would learn to stop doing it.
The monitor said it best. It controls grenade and rocket spam because it’s unfair that you could launch a rocket inbetween your team mate who’s surrounded and about to die because of his/her bad decision, suddenly lives while you wipe out the other team without consequence.
I don’t get betrayed that often. I’m finally in a clan up and running with some really cool people that became friends so that helps alot. However, I’ve of course had a few incidents myself. One player frustrated me so bad by killing me for sniper, that I kept shooting him and getting him weak so the enemy could kill him preventing me from being banned. He then proceeded to kill me again and was removed from the match. Fortunately we still won the match. I could have just ignored it of course…but…sometimes you just really wanna serve some very needed justice.
I believe your questions been answered, but what you really need is a remedy. In which I suggest becoming friends with other groups of players so you have friends to play with that you know won’t do dumb things like that. Usually people take turns or if one players very adept at a certain power weapon or utilizing a power up the team lets that player grab it. (Not saying you have zero friends. I’m sure you know what I mean.)
I like it and it needs to be in the game because it’s realistic. I don’t think it really forces people to make decisions related to their teammates though. One, tiny little scratch from an enemy means that you can get run over or blown to hell by a teammate and it is considered a kill. I hardly ever betray teammates because of this feature, even though liberal use of power weapons should probably net us all a few (you know what I am talking about lol). They make it extremely hard to betray someone accidentally. The only time I think it has happened to me recently was when I lasered an enemy guasshog with a teammate who was manning the gun for some reason. I know I throw a lot of random grenades and hurt teammates accidentally but I get shot by teammates while in CQC often and grenaded as well. I feel like this is a good thing overall but it is annoying getting softened up by friendly fire.
It needs to stay.

You’ll tend to get betrayed for power weapons by sweats, this happens all the time in btb when sweats try and go for clips. I’ve never seen anyone betray for flag caps though, that’s just ridiculous. I mean when someone is trying to betray you and you have a snipe and blane them with it, it feels all the more satisfying. But they will tend to keep trying to get betrayed by you but they will kick you after like 3 betrayals. People that usually try and team kill for the hell of it aren’t usually that good at it and I find it hilarious lol.
