Really? I recall getting booted regularly in Reach over shooting my wraith across the map and haphazardly hitting a team mate who conveniently decided to boost to where I’m shooting in their Ghost. (To name one of many ridiculous times I got booted). Now, in 4, where it actually takes significant effort to betray, I still can’t boot some clown who is -8 in my game after he betrays me 3 times (and pestering me the whole game).
The amount of damage (lethal or otherwise) you inflict on your teammates is tracked across multiple games. The more damage you’ve inflicted, the sooner others will get the option to boot you – and the less likely you are to receive the option to boot others.
In theory, it’s actually a really good system. Not so much in practice… :\
