Betrayed 11 times, no option to boot

I am not kidding. Check this game out:
https://halo.xbox.com/en-US/Career/HaloReach/GameHistory#!/?game=1068810963&section=Unknown

I spent most of the game getting serial-betrayed and then the loser quits so I can’t boot him if he betrays again (dumb move - quitting has a penalty). Earlier on, some kid betrays me for a sniper rifle. No option to boot. I betray him after he flies into his noob nest, booted. Worth it but still booted. Then he sends me -Yoink!- emoticons until I block him. Lovely.

343 may not have created the broken boot system but I wish they’d fix it.

> 1 betrayal isn’t enough, on its own, to prompt your teammate to boot you.
>
> Every player has a value that tracks the damage they’ve done to their teammates, and the system that governs that value takes into account many things. The value has a threshold, and if you commit a betrayal that pushes you over the threshold or if you are over the threshold and commit a betrayal your teammate will be prompted to boot you. The value is in a constant state of degradation but it decays slowly and carries over between games. This is done to ensure that a problematic player doesn’t have their slate wiped clean and regain the ability to commit excessive flagrant actions against their allies every time they load into a game. A player may have two or three betrayals in a game and not get booted, but when that’s the case there is a good chance a teammate in the next game will be prompted to boot them on their first betrayal in that new game.

The only problem here is that you betray your team mates too much that the option doesn’t appear, the solution is in your hands.

I’ll admit that I probably betrayed about 5 times over the night but it’s hard not to in close quarter BTB maps. Besides one betrayal and the subsequent boot, they were all accidental TKs. I was betrayed myself many more times than that and did not exercise the boot option… because it’s BTB. And then ONE person betrays me 11 times in a match and cannot get booted? Come on. That’s ridiculous. Having read the thread you linked, that explains what happened: a bunch of people tried to goad me into betraying them tonight by lowering my shields so I lowered theirs. That counted against me.

However, the thread you linked is full of people mostly on my page. And this:

“A player may have two or three betrayals in a game and not get booted, but when that’s the case there is a good chance a teammate in the next game will be prompted to boot them on their first betrayal in that new game.”

Why not give the people who got betrayed in the first game multiple times the option to boot?

ya… i hate that because when ever i would have like 30-40kills+ with a tank or wraith or sniper and my teammates would have only 15 kills…one betrayal…on accident…(TEMP BAN FROM MATCHMAKING) oh well you know cuz my team were going to lose now…

But i think its dumb when i suffer the ban from matching making yet people out there are just being jerks/betrayers/etc and not even getting punish

I only truly accidentally betray probably 1 out of every 100 games. Usually sticky across the map. More often I nade accidentally when they are weak and the opponent gets the kill.)You have to try fairly hard to betray.

Betraying comes easy for me, I play snipes, swat, and Invasion. People seem to LOVE walking right infront of me in snipes/swat, and I always get random grenade/banshee bomb betrayals in Invasion.

Sorry but at this time I have to agree with TLM…If you Do Not betray you will get the option eventually. However, if you get a case where the same person betrays you over and over in the same game and you don’t get the boot option then file a complaint and send BS Angel and PM. However, do Not Ever Try to Betray them because it will bite you in the -Yoink!- hard.

Where in that post does it say that if you betray you won’t get the boot screen for someone betraying you? I’ve read that whole thing multiple times, and I’ve never gotten the impression that betraying makes it less likely that the boot screen will show up. I think one of us must be reading it wrong. Maybe it’s me, but I’d really like to see where you came up with that.

You’re correct, it doesn’t. It perhaps suggests that maybe the betrayals for the current game have less of a penalty in that game but instead build penalties towards the next game i.e. your chance of getting booted in game 1 is fixed throughout that game but team-shooting or team-killing increase the chances of getting booted in subsequent games. If this were the case then it lets bad kids silently build up a lot of negative karma in one game so they can get slapped silly if they do it again in the next games. Less victims overall.

If everyone PMed the mods for every grievance it would very annoying for them. Thanks to the post TLM linked to though, I will stop shooting up teammates who randomly grenade my hog, melee me, lower my shields, kill me for a weapon since apparently that counts against me. Thanks for the link, TLM.

What would be fairer of course is a pointwise (pvp) delta measurement - if player A causes me 413 points of damage and I cause them 390 points back then I should only be penalized 23 points and not the full whack since they were probably griefing. And circling back to the original point, no player should be allowed to betray 11 times in one game. Man, I miss Halo CE on PC. “Admin, boot x please?” “Booted” “Thx” “ns” “ty” “gg”… ah!

If anyone can be betrayed eleven times in a single match and never once get the option to boot, then the system is a broken piece of trash regardless of whatever factors it (poorly) tracks.

Quoted for truth.

And the OP’s not lying, I’ve been in the same situation before (10+ Betrayals) and never got the option to boot. I’ve also heard many different stories related to this. The booting system in Halo Reach is broken. Full stop.

  1. Ha Ha you mostly like deserved it.
  2. My compliment to the player who was betraying you.
  3. That’s what you get for playing MM instead of other game modes.
  4. He is a much better player than you are.

I see the thank button but … where is the boot option when you need it?

Lol…

It was so funny you had to resurrect a thread that died 6 months ago?

Kinda, hes crying about not being able to boot a player, and check out the messeges he sent me…
