Do you want there to be a system in Halo 4 MP where you can betray team mates, or do you want that to only be in Custom Games? Personally, I think the betrayal system is broken and shouldn’t be there unless it’s for a specific gametype. It can’t work because a computer can never tell if it was an accident or on purpose. This means that trolls can sometimes get away with it and people who didn’t mean to betray end up being booted out of the rage of the betrayed player.
It also allows for teams to become unbalanced. If someone is booted who is helping the team, then you are at a sudden disadvantage. Without the ability for players to join games already in progress, teams can become unbalanced very easily. (A bit of a side note, do you think there should be the ability to join games in progress. I’m pretty sure this is in Halo 4, but should be in the games anyway)
It also doesn’t serve any practical purpose. You can’t be trapped very easily as you push the player out of the way. It may make the game seem more realistic, but it doesn’t do anything more than that.
I could come up with a lot more reasons, but I just want to leave this shorter than it could be. What do you think then? I personally would rather leave it to custom games where you have the option to use it. If it is to be implemented into MP, then it should be left to its own playlist. I feel that it ruins the experience as players who are doing well can be booted for one mistake and this disadvantages the team. If it is to be implemented, do something along the lines of friendly fire doing 50-30% damage, rather than 100%, along with this sort of option in Custom Games.
One of the first things I think of about whenever someone mentions, Halo is it’s Friendly Fire mode being constantly on lol.
When I’m with my buddies accidentally betraying them can be hilarious, with randoms though it can be a little annoying.
Just yesterday I was betrayed for both the shotgun and the sniper by the same guy and I had no option to kick him both times. It’s not something that makes me angry but it’s more disappointing than anything really.
I think for me instead of getting rid of it completely I would much prefer a sharper AI to work out whether or not the betrayal was on purpose.
Say it watches someone looking at you for more than 3 seconds and then they kill you? should give you the option to kick as that’s kinda obvious.
If it was gone we’d have a lot of spam attacks and that reduces the skill needed to get the win.
Firstly in the first line of your post you spelt there incorrectly [there not their] you might want to change that
As for betrayals I do think it should be in Halo. If players on the enemy team make a mistake which would have killed their team mates, then their team deserves to be punished via a betrayal.
Furthermore without betrayals we will get games where people spam grenades without caring or steal your kills with explosives while you are going hand-to-hand with them.
Also the new join in progress option will mean that players will no longer be handicapped if they boot a troll for betrayal.
To solve the problem of betrayals the boot system and punishment system needs to be better.

Indeed it does, but regardless, this is still an issue with Halo right now, and has been since Halo 2.
