I rarely quit games even if they are maps I despise. But if you betray me over a weapon, I’m quitting, have fun trying to win/stat pad by yourself.
I agree it is extremely annoying when someone betrays you just because you grabbed the weapon or vehicle that they feel they “needed”. I don’t quit, however, I don’t like to quit any game no matter what, but that’s just me. I’ll continue to play without that weapon that I clearly don’t need to enjoy the game; and then attempt to grab it again later and just hope that I get betrayed again so I can boot the player. If it doesn’t happen then no big deal I’ll continue to play the game as I had intended in the first place.
But I do agree that it is increasingly frustrating to be betrayed over something so miniscule such as a weapon or vehicle. For all you betrayers, take heed: your not the only person playing the game and you don’t always deserve the shotgun, sniper, etc…let others enjoy the power weapons as well; assuming they aren’t stealing YOUR ordinance drop.
Edit: OP don’t think that I feel that your quitting for a horrible reason, I can understand quitting when teammates are -Yoinks!-. I’m just stating that I don’t; but I do understand your frustration, and why you wouldn’t want to play with someone like that.
Hey, no worries whatsoever. Intentional betraying is the one thing I quit over, that’s all. Case in point, tonight in Dominion, charged over the knoll, grabbed the RL along the way, initiated the base takeover, camped in a corner to protect the fortify and resupply. A teammate walked right up to me betrayed for the RL, by the time I re-spawned we were in last man standing mode.
Again, I very rarely quit, even enjoy playing the cat and mouse game when I discover its a 5 on 2, or such, scenario.
And don’t get me wrong, I’ve betrayed plenty of times, but not intentional, and normally I reply into my mic with an apology.
When I play as a team, that’s what I want a team. Even a team of randoms without mics can coordinate a successful game.
But it crosses over just selfishness, and I’m about to go off on a tangent, but we are Spartans, act like one.
Yeah I agree, intentional betrayals is one that that makes me extremely mad as well; there is no point in it and it doesn’t help your team. I actually feel that if the betrayal is blatantly obviously intentional then we should get the automatic choice the first time to boot that player; especially if they betray you and there isn’t a single enemy near by that could have made it an accident.
Now I understand accidents happen, that doesn’t bother me, as I have done the same thing myself. Many things happen in the heat of a halo battle so the random grenade or rocket, or even a vehicle betrayal doesn’t get under my skin. Although I wish some people were more conscious drivers, lol, but accidents happen.
I am in it for the long haul as well, 1 vs 5, or what not. But I’ll give ya the thumbs up on quitting for someone intentionally betraying you; as I’m sure anyone on this forum would also give you the thumbs up, just because that type of betrayal is uncalled for; just selfish players is all it is.
There needs to be a “File report with Commander Palmer” option. I don’t think she would take kindly to betrayals.
Lol you’re correct, I doubt she’d look to kindly towards betraying a fellow teammate; she’d probably strip that Spartan of their rank for committing such a crime.
> There needs to be a “File report with Commander Palmer” option. I don’t think she would take kindly to betrayals.
I agree, I love Halo but betrayals over vehicles or weapons is something that I’ve only experienced in Halo and not in other FPSs like Battlefield. I really miss the option to instaboot a betraying troll - honest accidental betrayals are mildly frustrating, sometimes funny, but always forgiveable; intentional troll betrayals are never acceptable.
I can’t think of a Halo game that doesn’t have it…
It’s the ONLY good thing about FF being off. Not sure it’s worth no betrayals just to watch guys launch rockets into groups of his own team and the opponents though.
If one of my team mates betrays me i’ll constantly keep killing them, or they kill me and get booted.
I’ve been betrayed more for flag caps…
I usually never get betrayed, but if I do, that player will usually betray me again and then he gets the boot.

I never really quit after being betrayed because I can just used the BR or DMR to kill the enemy, but it is annoying it happens a lot when I get good ordinance ill get betrayed for either my sniper (Binary/Beam Rifle) or a Rocket Launcher. Pretty much the most dominate power weapons.

Oh god no people abused the hell out of the instaboot system in Reach especially BTB even when they were clearly accidents it was pretty ridiculous.
I mean if betrayal’s didn’t count as quits then I wouldn’t mind it returning but it needs some changes if it comes back.
You can betray in this game?

I once got banned when piloting a wraith. My teamate stuck me, blew up my wraith which killed my gunner and I was the one who was booted. I had a good game and we were like 3 kills away from winning. It is on my bnet fileshare if you want to see it.
Yeah, but with the lack of friendly fire I am not sure of the mechanics of how it works. Friendly fire doesn’t, but friendly melee seems to, not to mention vehicle killing.

Actually I believe that friendly fire and betrayals only happen in non-infinity playlists. So there is no friendly fire in slayer or BTB but in all the other playlists there are (ex. CTF, dominion, oddball, etc). Otherwise you can still betray/kill your teammates by vehicle in slayer and BTB.
