If you’re damaged by an enemy then get betrayed before your shield regens, it counts as a kill for that enemy and not as a betrayal.
I was playing an arena match with two friends and one random, and that random would keep spartan charging us or shooting rockets at us and the kill feed would show we were killed from an enemy’s weapon, while the rando didn’t get any penalty for betraying.
Seriously the most annoying thing, hopefully something is done about it.
Its makes more sense than an enemy half killing you and then to prevent an enemy scoring your teammate kills you. Its unfortunetly the better of the two options IMO

Hell no it isn’t! They should make it so the betrayer still gets the penalty!
As i said my opinion. Id rather deal with the 1 random you know what then to go into arena and for me to lose because to other team is purposely stealing my kills with betrayals. Theres arguments for both sides

What about booting the troll that betrays his team multiple times, giving kills to the enemy team who shot one bullet?
Also in previous Halos a betrayal deducts kills from the team’s score, so they’d still lose.

This.
Or they should make it so you simply can’t possibly hurt your teammates.

The problem with this, though, is it was abused. People would block those players who were way better than them so they wouldn’t have to worry about competition from them again. Lame but happened.
I ran into this issue a few weeks ago. My brother and I were playing and were both on the top of the score board. I grabbed a shotgun and this one dude kept following me around trying to spartan charge me even after I died and spawned with the regular loadout. He finally had enough betrayals for me to kick him but the default option when the screen pops up is to forgive the person. I was mashing “A” because I wasn’t expecting the screen to pop up and it forgave the dude which I did not want to do. My brother and I reported him after the match. There has to be some type of metric that sees an excessive use a spartan charges against teammates. Even if it doesn’t kill you it should keep a tally on them to kick/ban them from the playlist for a while.

Also, when that option comes up, I believe “A” shouldn’t allow you do do anything. It should be something like press either Left Trigger to forgive or Right Trigger to boot and you would have to pick one of those options as no other buttons would do anything. That way you know for sure what you are doing and don’t pass through the screens that pop up without realizing what they were for.
Betrayals should count as betrayals and they should negatively affect the betrayer’s team.
The killer should be deducted by whoever deals the killing shot but I think that people should be penalized for weakening their teammates if they do it on a regular basis (occasional off nade exempt).
No friendly fire feels dirty but it does the best job of fixing the problem in a non-vehicle case.
You could take it one step further and match people who regularly betray their teammates to feed them their own medicine.
