Ever since 343 put Griffball into Halo 5 the arena has been much more relaxed in my opinion. While the majority of game types are ranked (and being as competitive as I am I usually play those), and and BTB can be a miserable experience if you’re getting blown out, Griffball offers a fun and easy way to hang out with friends, win a few games, and brutally murder the opposing team with a hammer that has a head the size of my coffee table. I love Griffball. I have since Reach, but recently my friend and I have noticed a flaw in the game; an in-game option to boot players who have betrayed you.
Betrayal booting in general is a very useful tool in my opinion as it prevents players from deliberately killing their teammates for dumb reasons. And ya, sometimes you get booted for accidentally running over a teammate in Warzone or shooting off your railgun JUST as a teammate jumps in front of you, but accidents happen. In Griffball, betrayals are very common because of the close quarters combat and fast-paced game play. Back in Reach and Halo 4, it wasn’t out of the ordinary to kill a few teammates in a heated battle for the ball. but now in Halo 5, players can kick others for these accidents.
Personally, I don’t think its fair to the players. I HATE getting booted from a game because of a few mis-swings or poorly timed charges. Most of the time players don’t even mean to betray their teammates, they just happen to get in the way. Like I said, accidents happen and I don’t think booting belongs in Griffball. It is supposed to be fun after all, and nothing is fun about the ban hammer.
