As much as I’d like that to happen, I have a feeling we might not be getting a public beta. Kinda like halo 4.
While 343 has said all future games would have mp betas, they haven’t said anything about a beta for Infinite. They have though said that there will be flight-type programs at certain points in development. If the game is not delayed due to COVID-19,I don’t think the flights will have much of an impact on the game.

Assuming that Infinite manages to launch in Oct-Nov along with the Series X, it’s a guarantee that the flights won’t have that much impact on the final game because there simply won’t be enough time for 343i to make substantive changes.
It’s now mid-April and we haven’t even heard dates yet for when a proposed beta would occur. Assuming 343i would want to announce the beta dates a least a few months before it occurs, that puts the beta in June-July at the earliest. Typically games try to “go gold” 1-2 months before launch so that they can be copied onto physical discs and shipped to stores. That leaves roughly 2-3 months between the beta and the game “going gold”…not enough time to make any changes to fundamental game functions. Weapon balance could probably be tweaked, minor map adjustments though doubtful…
The beta would really be more of just a network stress test to ensure the game actually functions smoothly instead of a tool to help designers actually craft the game.
That would be really cool. Though I think they’re going to do insider flights before an open beta so it’d go more like “and you can sign up as an insider now and get a chance to be chosen to play in 2 weeks!” Lol

Early flights have already happened but with a very limited group of people. At this point it is just a pro team of players that has access to the flights.
I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again.
I think the beta will be announced as a “play it now” announcement at E3 (as the OP is indicating could happen). I think it will include a few days of team slayer, and a few days of a new game mode (like how Breakout was featured in H5 marketing and communications).
I also think the beta will mostly be a server infrastructure test, and won’t have drastic impacts on gameplay changes before launch.
I don’t see a beta happening anymore honestly. With everything going on, I would understand and not be mad if we don’t get a beta though.

I’ve heard other people make this claim as well but without any evidence too.
Where was this confirmed? I’d assume the only “confirmation” we’d get would be somebody likely breaking an NDA to mention that they’re playing it.

Well, even without official info it’s not a secret that every studio in the world do play-tests. Also 343i always has done their intern flights with pro-league gamers for both H4 and H5 first. The news would be if that wasn’t the case anymore!

It was confirmed over a year ago on one of Halo’s mixer streams that Halo infinite is playable and a pro team of players was assembled around February of last year to begin testing of the game.

In this case it has nothing to do with the topic at hand (the upcoming Beta) though.
Internal playtests have always been a thing, that’s no news and not even worth a mention.
