Well now that Halo 5 has been out for nearly 4 1/2 months, I decided to take the weapons and rank them from effectiveness on there own killing power and stats from all the barebone weapons in the game. So no weapons with different scopes or modifications and no upgraded power weapons from Warzone. These weapons will be categorized based on there weapon type and go left to right for best to worst ranking. As well as my reasonings for the placement on the weapons. I will first start out with the precision weapons then go the the automatic and then the specialty weapons then the power weapons. These results are based on players being of the highest skill level and results may vary considering the incalculable factors in multiplayer.
Single Shot/ Burst Fire Percision weapons.
Halo CE Magnum>>>DMR~Lightrifle(Scope in Shot)~Pistol~=Carbine=BR>Halo 2 BR=Lightrifle(normal shot)>Boltshot>>>Plasma Pistol(shots only).
Yea, no suprise there with the CE magnum being No.1. So minding it only exist only on a few maps the DMR takes the stand in best weapon followed by the light rifle. The two are here for there extremely precise shots and higher magnification qualities tha the other weapons. The DMR is more consistent white the Lightrifle requires a combination of out and in scoped shots to achieve a higher TTK. The pistol follows up despite have a smaller magnification for less aim assist at range. It has more uses for being a QuickDraw weapons and recovers from melee strikes and weapons switching faster than any other weapon. The carbine and BR are similar mid range weapons that will widly used and effective there spread and lower zooms cause trouble and long range. The Halo 2 BR is slightly less powerful than the Halo 5 BR but has other uses that I will explain later. The normal Light Rilfe while no sloucher needs a combo of zoomed in shot and out to a hive maximum efficiency. The Boltshot’s only notable quality is its tracking bolts but a slow rate of fire and non instant kill headshot bonus hold it back from the others. The Plasma Pistol is dead last because it’s a hard weapon to kill with despite being the most powerful of all its incarnations suffers from a rather unresponsive trigger and overheating and a low battery life.
Now on to the differences from the two Battle rifles in this game.
- The Halo 5 battle rifle is slightly more powerful killing in 11 bullets (3.667 shots)while the H2 one takes a more classical 12 bullets to kill (4 shots). The do the same bodyshot damage (Both kill in 18 bullets or 6 shots) strangely and are both 2 shot melee kills. - They are the same for Red Reticule Rnage when scoped in. However the Halo 2 BR has more bullet magnetism and can hit you if the reticule is blue. A likely reference to a rather uncomfortable truth about Halo 2’s infamous weapon mechanics. - Both have a form a spread that acts differently. The Halo 5 one has vertical spread with a very slight deviation to the left and right. The BR from Halo 2 has a much smaller recoil jump of spread. But scoping in and crouching do not reduce or eliminate the recoil and spread unlike the Halo 5 BR. - The Halo 2 BR switches out faster and reloads slightly faster as well. Possibly to refer to more effective noob combos and QuickDraw situations. - different melee animations that are just cosmetic only. Here is the video for the comparison
And here is the max kill-time for all the weapons that all the weapons can achieve.
CE pistol -0.67 ( 3 shot kill)
DMR - 1.22 ( 5 shot kill)
Lightrifle- 1.08 ( 2 zoomed in shots and 1 normal shot)w
Battle Rifle Halo 5- 1.28333333… (3.667 shots or 11 bullets)
Pistol- 1.24 ( same as DMR)
Carbine- 1.26 (7 shot kill)
Halo 2 BR -1.3 (4 shot to kill or 12 bullets)
Plasma Pistol- 1.64 (9 shots to kill)*
Boltshot - 1.54 (4 shots or 11-12 bullets)**
*The PP has a rather unresponsive trigger and you must timed your finger presses to get the weapon to shot because nothing may come out if your too fast. Whether this is a bug or intentional feature to encourage noob combos with EMPs is unknown to me.
** The bolt shots headshot bonus is not an instant kill but is a difference of one ionized particle so four burst is all that is needed to kill regardless of shot placement.
well there you have it Spartans. Do you agree or disagree? Share me your feedback! I shall come back and read responses and try to respond.
