To be honest: to say which was /is the better villain is for me wrong because everyone has it diffrent motives or we dont know it actualls motives,
The most dangerous villian is for my the Flood because we all know what they can do
Personnal views are welcome.
I chose Spark.
But each of the villains have their own merits.
Spark, he’s one of the few that’s actually killed a notable character! Truth and Gravemind being the others… everyone else is very tame.
I’ve actually responded to one like this before a while ago… but here is my response.
343 Guilty Spark: Not a villain in my opinion. He had different priorities than Master Chief. Later killed by the Chief.
Didact: the last known Forerunner, who thought the galaxy needed to fight the flood still. Later killed by the Chief.
Jul M’dama: Leader of the Covenant Storm faction. Was killed rather pathetically by Agent Locke.
Tartarus: blind (metaphorically) lieutenant to the Prophet of Truth. Killed by the Arbiter.
Parg Vol: Covenant terrorist, later killed by Fireteam Crimson.
Warden Eternal: No known data about who he is or what he is. Multiple bodies killed by both Chief and Locke (with some help from the Arbiter).
Gravemind: This is the hive mind of the Flood. This is the stuff of nightmares. Anything that is capable of controlling that parasite is something with which you don’t wish to trifle. The most ruthless entity in the galaxy at any given time. This current one was only destroyed by the Arbiter and Chief together. That is how strong it was. And the worst part is, a new one can take it’s place. This is the ultimate villain.

We also know what they want to do.
Gravemind fo sho
Got to go with Truth. That dude was strictly insane lol. Sure he was one dimensional, especially in Halo 3, but he was cutthroat till the end.
Personally I love the brutes, My vote goes to tartarus! But Most villains are very good! I’m not a huge fan on warden eternal personally
Forgot Cortana as a villain.

Agree completely. Gravemind is the best villain to me.
I’m contempt with the GraveMind being number 1. Were it not for him the flood would of been super easy to deal with. Plus he had a spooky voice that always scared the crap out of me when I played Cortana in Halo 3.
Has anyone here read Hunters in the Dark? When they reached the Ark I kept thinking to myself that they would find some Flood remnants or perhaps the Gravemind still alive. That would of been awesome.

Wasn’t parg vol in Spartan assault and Palmer killed him?
Gravemind, just for the massive scale of it.
The Gravemind. Lovecraftian villains are the best in sci-fi. (The Reapers excluded).
The Prophets of Truth, Mercy and Regret would come second, as they were the ones to declare the war of genocide against Humanity. In real life, it’s the politicians who cause the most damage, just as it is in the Halo Universe.
I would argue that Guilty Spark isn’t a villain at all. His duty puts him at odds with Chief, but he has no ill will to anyone and is only trying to defend his instillation and protect the galaxy from the Flood. It’s not his fault the Covenant keep releasing the Flood and Chiefs solution to everything is an explosion. The Warden is very similar in that he is just doing his job, which is protecting Cortana/the Domain, and that happens to put him at odds with Blue Team and Osiris, but he himself had no evil intentions or motivations.
While I like Tartarus and his rivalry with the Arbiter, in the end he is just a henchman who was manipulated by Truth so I would have a hard time considering him the best villain. Jul’ is also interesting, however he was never really all that villainous. Jul’ had legitimate reason to hate humanity and was a fairly pragmatic leader. Plus, he went down so anticlimactically that it is hard to consider him the best villain.
That leaves what I consider the three best villains in the series, Truth, Didact, and Gravemind. Which one is my favorite changes from day to day, but they all managed to be great villains while also being unique. Gravemind is the definition of an “unknowable horror” and is definitely the most powerful and intimating of all the villains. Even the way he talks manages to give off a vibe of vast intelligence, deep seeded rage, and complete creepiness. The Didact’s history and back story are what make him such an interesting villain. His motives, while extreme, were understandable, and that ending monolgouge he gave in Halo 4 was the definition of villainy. You also have to give him credit for almost destroying Earth single handedly. He was such a great villain that his absence in Halo 5 is felt very strongly. If I had to choose my favorite I guess I would have to pick Truth. I find it very interesting to have the main villain of the entire Halo series (until then end of Halo 3) be a frail and weak man who was so devout in his beliefs that he would commit genocide to preserve those beliefs and so manipulative he could convince billions to follow him. Plus, his relationship with and ultimate demise by the hand of the Arbiter was pretty awesome.

No. In Halo 4’s spartan ops, as part of Fireteam Crimson, your job is to kill him at one point.
I like how he is a villain that you actually get to fight
