Best Fighter on Fireteam Osiris

Yes, this was inspired by that Blue Team poll.

Make sure to vote, but explain why below. List their feats and demonstrations of their combat abilities.

Locke has shown to be the most skilled imo. His background of being an agent and leader is pritty good I feel like ONI agents get better training than ODSTs but thats debatable . Locke is also the only spartan who was shown to have the guts and fight on equal terms with the Master Chief one of the best spartan 2s.

Buck said Dare could easily kill him with her ONI training and she is only ONI section 1. Locke has ONI section 3 training. I’ll give it to Locke.

Despite everyone on the team having a lot of combat experience, I.E, Buck during New Mombasa, Vale during an expedition to The Ark, and Tanaka serving on board the Infinity, Locke definitely is the most skilled in combat. Not many Spartans could fight the Master Chief in hand to hand combat and do that well for as long as he did.

Although the Chief underestimated him.

Locke was tapped to assassinate the Arbiter and held his own against the Master Chief in H2H combat. Easily him. I know people like Buck, but he’d get his behind handed to him on a platter by Chief.

Nooo! Chief just let Locke to show his skill, and that’s why the game is T rated. In the alternate version Locke stay alone with the Guardian under the surface, and the rest of the Osiris separated from Locke, because he wanted to get some asskicking from Chief sooner so he ran, but Buck, Vale and Tanaka teleports to the surface. And if I’m correct, there was a lava lake under the Guardian and Chief locked Locke armors so…ya, plus the pieces of the objects was felt down.

Buck, because he actually did things, unlike Locke, who just planned to do things (kill the Arbiter). Experience > ONI Assassin training.

Tanaka and Vale are not even in the conversation, I still wonder how they even became Spartans.

I say Buck. Reasoning: Buck started out as any marine and worked his way up to ODST. If it wasn’t for Chief, he wouldn’t be able to become a Spartan. So if he’s good enough to go from ODST to Spartan, I say he’s the best on Osiris.

May the shadows hide your assault.

Obviously Locke. He was easily capable of holding his own against Chief and he has ONI training. Training that Buck believed would allow Veronica to easily take him down. Not to mention he easily took down Jul.

There’s really no debate here.

Locke seemed put up a good fight at first against Chief due to Chief just going easy on him. When the visor cracked, Locke couldn’t get a single hit in, with Chief wiping the floor with him. I think the other members of Osiris would go down faster than Locke did if they tried to fight Chief.

Exactly! Buck is an actual trained solider and former ODST. Locke was an assassin/freelancer, Tanaka was an engineer?, and Vale was a scientist or something like that. (goes to show what I know about Osiris). But Buck easily has the most experience out of everyone else on the team. I’m curious to see how a fight between him and chief would play out.

Buck: “Fightin’ like a Spartan, gots a shotty.”

I’d place my bet on Locke.
Tanaka doesn’t feel like a fighter type and neither does Vale that much. So it would be a fight between Locke and Buck. I’d say his experience as an assassin and an ONI agent has involved a lot of combat and combat training. Not gonna say that Buck wouldn’t be able to fight back a little but I’d say that in the end Locke would be victorious.

Wasn’t Locke an assassin before joining ONI, where he trained to become even better?
I don’t understand why people think Locke has no experience just because we have not seen it on screen.

He has experience, just not as a soldier or in combat. If this were a “who can plan and silently kill an unsuspecting target contest”, then Locke would win. But this is a straight up, direct combat fight, something which Buck has been doing for 30 years. Locke isn’t even 30 years old (he’s 29). It’s equivalent to dropping a young, but gifted CIA field agent (Locke) and a Delta force Veteran of dozens of combat tours (Buck) into an arena and saying, who would win? My money is on the delta force guy.

I’m pretty sure Locke has more experience in close combat that you suggest. And I thought the question here is about a fist fight only. ONI agent/assassin training and his former assassin
career pretty surely has more than just shooting from a distance or unsuspecting targets.

The OP said “fight”, not “fist fight”, so weapons are on the table. You are assuming a lot about Locke. What proof do we have that he actually has any significant experience or skill other than other characters commenting on him being awesome? Unless something big happened in Nightfall (I never saw it), then all we know about Locke is that he was an assassin (a job where you avoid direct combat) and that ONI trained him (So? Is being trained by ONI better than ODST training? We don’t know, there’s no context). Long story short, Buck has actually done awesome things, Locke just has people talk about him being awesome.

Buck also fought Mickey when he defected. He fought hand to hand with a Spartan IV and won. He comments that the fight was unlike sparring where you hold back, it was full force blows that “sounded like thunder”. He tanks several blows and then literally pummels Mickey until his visor shatters… Thus to my knowledge, apart from Palmer, he is the only Spartan to have fought another Spartan to ‘the death’. I’m not saying he could have taken Chief, but he would done at least as good as Locke.
Buck is familiar with many more forms of combat and utilising vehicles and weapons both human and Covenant. No matter how supposedly awesome Locke is (who was jumped by two other ONI agents in Nightfall) I fail to see him being so versed in different fighting styles as Buck. We know Buck has bested at least two hunters (Tyari Plaza in ODST) without heavy weapons, killed at least one Brute Chieftain (Kikowani Station) and assisted to kill another (NMPD finale) not to mention bringing down a Scarab with minimal support (Not even Noble Team pulled that off)

Well I remember the blue team poll being about a fist fight. I know Buck has done some great things but that really doesn’t mean his fist fighting skills are superhuman and there couldn’t be someone who wins him in a fight.
As you said, we don’t really know much about Locke so you can’t say that he has no experience in something either.
