Best Experience?

I haven’t had the chance to play Halo: CEA yet. Around Christmas I’ll have the opportunity, but until then, I’m trying to figure out what the best set up to play it is.

I’ve listened to the orchestrated soundtrack, and though some of the earlier tracks sound amazing. Some of the later Covenant and Flood tracks, and Rock Anthem for Saving the World, just aren’t anywhere near as good as the originals in my opinion.

So I’ve already decided upon the soundtrack. But this is where things get a little more difficult; the new graphics.

Pros:

  • Most things look sweeeeeet.

Cons:

  • The Library doesn’t look scary anymore.
  • Zealots don’t look gold.
  • I’ve heard things about the Chief and weird mannerisms and tiny hands.

Considering this, would you rather play in original or remastered graphics? And if you were to choose the former, can you play the whole game in original graphics, including cutscenes?

Hello Nick!! Can’t wait to see you back in a few weeks.
Anyway, as you may well know that you can changed the Graphics by tapping the Select button.
If you’re in Classic mode the cutscenes will also be in Classic mode and the same applys to the new Graphics.
Personally, the new graphics make a lot of the scenery really great. Especially on Halo. I Think you should go for the new graphics 1st because you’ve already scene the classic graphics 10 years ago

I agree with you on the soundtrack. There’s some decent additions that I enjoy, mainly the track when your escaping the Map room on Silent Cartographer.

As for the graphics, I think there amazing and much prefer playing with them on.
The Library is still pretty tense, but I think the bright lights in the Forerunner architecture make it a little less scary.
The Zealots are more a burnished gold rather then the bright gold from the original, but that doesnt bother me too much.

OMG! Ben!!! xD

What a pleasant surprise.

Thanks for the response. I’m just thinking about the battle bro that I’m going to be playing the Campaign with, as he’s never played CE before. I look forward to tearing it up in Matchmaking with you guys again soon though! I think V is going to assemble the old crew, and I should be back after the 17th.

And thanks Venator, too!

I think this game is worthwhile and it gave me the feeling i got when I was playing the original. In fact, I caught myself playing the original the day before the games release.

You will probably want the new graphics. Some levels like the Truth and Rec look incredible because in the original they were desert and so are essentially a blank canvas.

The Silent Cartographer looks so good it will make you cry. But I dare you not switch back from time to time because you will. Try the area where you fight the hunters on the Silent Cartographer.(one of my favourites)

Gameplay is still the best there has ever been. Co-op is still lagging :frowning:

Go with the classic graphics the first time around. Not only does it feed the nostalgia, but apparently there are a few sections that were not re-skinned properly, and can lead to great frustration. And you don’t want your first experience with HCEA to be frustrating, now do you?

Some of the boundaries of trees, rocks and some walls are slightly expanded but apart from that its perfect.

Pretty much this. The Elite’s look a little strange, their colors aren’t correct either bit this game is mad amounts of fun. I smoke a bowl and take a trip through The Library - it’s ridiculously fun to play.

Why playing the exact same game you already have?

Just saying.

Zealots look great.

I was doing that 10 years ago. No more bowls though :frowning:

I still have the GRID

Yes, play it old-school, it is old-sckool.
Play it in anniversary and you will see subtle changes here and there (like Sarge coping a feel, not the Elite).
If you want the original sound, go to EXTRAS (think it’s that one) and choose “classic music.”
I don’t know if you get classic sounds.
Overall, I love the new sound effects. The layers, clarity and channels… OMG!

I love how the Zealots are more Predator-ish. I so would love to see individual characters shown more. Like what’s his name that followed the Chief the whole game, just to die in the elevator like he’s Leonardo Decaprio, he should have had a less generic look to him. (can I get a confirm he is generic, I thought so).

Hahaha. Gotta love your referencing Reaper. I still haven’t played CE in the new graphics yet, but I can confirm in the original, he was generic. Thanks for the instruction on the classic soundtrack, by the way.

I actually love the new graphics in the environment and I like all of the character models chosen and how 343 have touched them up, general gameplay wise I think you should play in new graphics because it is honestly very impressive.

The only problem I have is with the cutscenes, Captain Keyes has a weirs thing going on with his mouth, Cortana looks… odd and the little movements and animations that I remember just aren’t the same.

I think you should play your first playthrough in new graphics just to take it all in, after that stick to classic like I do lol
