In other words, when I spawn a REQ weapon and dump all its ammo into a beefy boss like Warden, which one will end up taking the biggest chunk of his health?
Ad Victoriam has been one of my favorite REQ weapons for this reason, but now that I’ve unlocked almost every REQ weapon, I’d like to know what’s the best.
I figured The Answer would be a decent contender, but after testing it on some Elites where it took like 5-10 shots, maybe not.
The Spartan Laser is an example of something with a deceivingly low damage output. It has very high damage per shot, but you only get 4, so the ratio is pretty bad in comparison to other heavy weapons.
Vehicles like scorpions would be the answer. I’m not sure about REQ weapons as I rarely use them.
Well yeah, obviously vehicles would have the best ratios since they have unlimited ammo. But I’m talking about times where it’s too difficult to use a vehicle, like those final rounds of WZFF with Wardens or mythic Hunters in the home base.
The Answer with damage boost maybe.
I know the Scourge of Fire is great against hunters.
The patrol case mod could be useful as well.
My vote goes to any of the Plasma Caster variants.

Doesn’t the patrol case use up 2 reqs

I think you have to equip the same req twice?
We talking fire fight? Razors Edge is great. Tons of ammo, great for early rounds. Grinder is murder against Prometheons as well.

How does Razor’s Edge stack up against Needlers? I figured it was basically the same thing.

It’s similar but comes with somewhere around 160-200 rounds instead of 40-60 as needlers do. I find it to be much much better.

I think it’s similar, though I’ve found it to be less consistent against Spartans, but since we’re talking about WZFF, the thing can be devastating against Ghosts, from what I’ve seen.
Great question - honestly it’s pretty situational, IMO. The answer is: The Answer.
Amazing damage output and tons of ammo. And vehicles whenever possible since they have infinite ammo (Ghost ultra, oni hog, wraith ultra, scorpion, banshee ultra are all good, just don’t get too close and get wrecked by the boss).
But if The Answer and vehicles aren’t an option… the plasma casters, hammers, and swords can deal pretty massive damage and have lots of ammo for only spending 3-4 REQ energy. But you definitely need a teammate to distract to get close to the boss.
- For lower-defense bosses like soldiers & elites, most efficient to just team-shot them with loadout weapons for no req cost, or vehicle splatter them. An Ad-Vic / Light of urs / arclight / plasma caster works well if you’re concerned about it getting stolen and you want the quick kill. Also Razors edge against Prometheans and plasma weapons against covenant both work well. For banshee bosses I like to use an arclight, splaser, or spnkr em. - For mid-defense bosses like knights, ghosts, I like to get them a little weak with teamshot loadout weapons to save req weapon ammo, then finish with Ad-Vic / Light of urs / arclight / plasma caster. - for high and very-high-defense bosses like hunters, special elites, or legendary/mythics – plasma casters (charge shot, and stick them), hammers, or swords are pretty beast and good req value. I use those against bosses that spawn in the temple overlook on Sanctum. Light of Urs and Ad-Vic aren’t bad either. Also helpful to pair whatever you’re using with a damage boost. related note - sword needler hogs are surprisingly good at taking down wraith bosses and the grunt jockey.
Oh also, the endgame is good (more ammo than standard splaser), and Selene’s Lance is a beast…
Blood of Suban is an easy 10 kills and its only a lvl 4 REQ
Plasma caster is the best if you only do charged shots.
