so guys I’ll be honest, I haven’t played halo for the last couple of weeks frequently because I was gettin really frustrated with college and stuff, so I just started playing again a few days ago. That break that I took from halo made play this few days as inexperienced player, I’m losing all to the 1v1 encounters I get, so I’m thinking of changing the formula to get in form again, and a lot t of people have told me that bumber jumper is the best layout when it comes to play the game, I tried it out today but it was a failure, but I’m willing to try it out, or another control scheme, can anyone suggests me a good setup?
I use default. Used to use Halo 4 control scheme but changed a few months ago. It really works for me. What control scheme did you used to use?
I use the Halo 4 layout but I also use the fusion controller so I have thr crouch button remapped as one of the buttons on the bottom to make it easier to use.

I used the halo 4 layout, but I keep gettin outgunned by the crouching- fire mechanic.

That was precisely my problem with the halo 4 layout, the crouching and fire mechanic was imposible to achieve for me at least. Currently using the default scheme, it feel ok but a little odd.
I use Reclaimer buttons (Which I think is Halo 4)
And Southpaw Legacy sticks (Which is the weirdest thing you’ll ever experience [but you get used to it])
I started to play Halo with Halo CE, and the control scheme stayed similar in H2. When the 360 came with H3, the reload was now RB instead of X (X being for the equipment), and B was melee. Since B has always been melee (and I really like when B is melee), I kept the only scheme that had B on melee: Recon.
SNPR
Bumper jumper all the way. Jumping and aiming at the same time is a must
I started Bumper Jumper in Halo 3 and never looked back. Sticking to it in Reach basically forced me develop my Claw grip because AAs were X, and claw is a great skill to know in general. I play bumper jumper in basically every game I can, though for some games it still feels weird, the tournament scheme(I think that’s what it was called) in the Gears 4 Beta had LB for cover but the classic scheme is second nature to me after this many years.
I use recon
I just use default. That stuff doesn’t help me in-game.
Try helljumper with x and rb swapped. You can aim, jump and thrus without removing your thumb from the right stick.
When I switched to this setup from bumperjumper I started to play much better and my accurracy went up significantly and I could easily dodge fire and still keep my crosshair on target, which wouldn’t have been possible with bumperjumper.
Been a bumper jumper fan since halo 3, but switched to Helljumper in halo 5, only thing I don’t really like is meleeing/group pounding with my right stick but minor hindrance. I prefer using LT for smart link, but to each his own…
Recon is the way to go (RB is reload)
with the regular one it’s BJ all the way.
I’m a bumper jumper kinda guy
There is no “best controller layout”, it’s all up to personal preference and play style.
I think every game should let you map whatever buttons you want to whatever functions you want.
I’m sick of buying games and not being able to comfortably play them the way I want because of the controls.
I prefer the Recon layout, keeps it classic and it’s what I am used to.
I love helljumper
