best character in halo

who is your favorite character in the halo games

Is it too biased to say John?

Would saying Emile from reach be a bit of a stretch considering he doesn’t talk that much and is only in half the game

The Arbiter/Thel 'Vadam. Born into a powerful Sangheili family, trained in the ways of the warrior, and joined the Covenant military were he earned the right to use -ee as a suffix in his name (thus becoming Thel 'Vadamee). With his exceptional combat and leadership skills, he rose through the military ranks until he reached Supreme Commander, and was given command of the Fleet of Particular Justice. From that point on, he caused over a billion human casualties, destroyed 7 human worlds, and destroyed over 120 human space vessels.

So at this point, he has quite the track record.

He led Covenant forces at the Fall of Reach, and he followed the Pillar of Autumn as it fled the planet. Conveniently, it led them to a Halo ring. So it was now Thel 'Vadamee’s goal to secure the ring for the Covenant, but we all know that didn’t go as well as he had hoped. When he returned to High Charity, his failure was so colossal that he was named a heretic, stripped of his armor and rank, and branded with the mark of shame. So at this point, Thel 'Vadam is certain that his life is over. He’s basically been exp-communicated, he will be left behind on the Great Journey.

“Ultimately, the terms of your execution are up to me.”
“I am already dead.” - Prophet of Truth and Thel 'Vadamee

But then, Thel 'Vadamee is named Arbiter, a huge honor, and now has a chance to redeem himself. After slaying the heretic leader, retrieving the sacred icon, and getting betrayed by Tartarus, he still refuses to believe the truth told to him by the Gravemind. But after fighting the Brutes and hearing the truth from Spark, he leaves the Covenant, drops the -ee from his name, and sides with the humans in their fight against the Covenant. His fellow Sangheili follow him.

His goal of redemption now became a goal of revenge. Not just for tricking him, but his entire species, for countless years. What’s not awesome about that?

So he got his revenge on Truth, stabbing him in the back with an energy sword, and he continued to fight alongside the humans to contain the flood.

“This is our fight, I will see it finished.”

And now, years later, he’s fighting a civil war on his own planet.

Not if you’re saying John Forge

Buck

Master Chief, for me.

Cortana

My personal favorite is Kelly. She, is so bad -Yoink-. Shes the fastest human in the halo universe and in the books she is fighting on reach with all these crazy injuries (which is what made her my favorite) like a torn achilles tendon, concision, and a punctured lung. Plus we all know MC is getting it in ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Buck

Arby and Chief are always gonna be my favorite.

Linda.

Rtas 'Vadum will always be my favorite character in the Halo universe.

As far as characters in the game, the Arbiter has the most character development. But there are so many good characters to choose in the whole universe. As far as the games how’s, I like Noble Six the best. (dark horse I know) When including the books Id probably say Kurt or Fred.

Obviously its Johnson, so I guess its more a debate over second best.

I like Buck, Noble team, MC, Arbiter, Cortana… yeah, I can’t really pick one.

Any grunt!

Linda.

I never had to ask myself this question… Hmmmm…

I guess I would say Arbiter since I body with him in KI!

Johnson was a great character. Balanced, and he seemed to fit the definition of the perfect marine, the perfect soldier. Strict, compassionate, and fully embodied what I would expect from a member of the forces. However I also liked Cortana and her ability to just appreciate everything around her, despite being an AI (granted she is a very advanced AI, regardless.)

John in himself has been imperfect, but that is simply to do with the Spartan program raising him to be as he is. But you can really see his character development (and emotional attachment) through the games.

There really isn’t a “Best” character in my opinion. But I think we can all agree…Captain Del Rio was the worst.

Sgt. Major Avery Johnson, need I say more?
