So you know how Halo used to be known for it’s legendary campaign which was a fantastic experience whether playing alone or with that one faithful splitscreen partner? The Halo campaigns contained many memorable missions for many different reasons, some because of their amazing and majestic design, and some because of the amazing plot twists such as the mission ‘343 Guilty Spark’ where we first meet the flood. In my opinion some of the most enjoyable missions from the campaign are:
Halo - First time on a Halo ring. Enough said. - The Silent Cartographer - I just love how free roam this mission is - The Ark - It had everything; Infantry, sniping, vehicles and good plot development - The Covenant - This level felt like it took place on an actual Halo ring, and you got to fly! - New Alexandria - Reach was amazing - Shutdown - The first time flying an actual pelicanSo what do you guys think about the best mission in the Halo franchise? These are some of my personal favourites which hold very good memories for me, but what about you? Comment on what your favourite levels are in the fantastic franchise, and feel free to discuss why.

Yes I love this one, especially because of the easter eggs But in terms of Reach’s campaign, I think my favorite would be Oni Sword Base. I would always start that mission by charging past everything, getting the target locator before anything else, and turning around and using it on the first group of enemies.
Then I’d go out there and take one of those wraiths for myself, do the mission stuff, swap out the wraith for the gauss hog, come back to the entrance and kill all the revenants except for one, which I’d use as a ramp to get the gauss hog into the base. Then I’d kill the hunters with it, and try to fit it into the elevator (which works until it blows up when you press the button). Sometimes I’d even keep the target locator until the end, and use it on the phantoms.
That’s pretty much how I did that mission every time, and it just never got old. And I loved how you could play campaign with randoms in matchmaking, I always enjoyed seeing how other people try to do the mission. I just like how there are a lot of different ways to go through it. Sorry for the rambling post but that mission has a lot of memories for me…

The one with the sniper at the start is Truth and Reconciliation. I love that mission too
I love the Silent Cartographer. Played that mission on the Halo: CE PC demo so many times before I owned a Xbox. Knew that mission by heart before I ever even picked up the Duke.
New Alexandria…meh. Very cool easter eggs, but I hated flying the Falcon from place to place, and the enemies you had to fight were just super annoying (bugs in Ivory Tower? No thanks).

I remember playing it so much I swear there was one ai that was unpredictable because he would cycle to different possessions every game he was like the mvp ai
There’s a lot of great missions in Halo (obviously) but my absolute favorite missions would be The Silent Cartographer, The Covenant, and New Alexandria.
The Silent Cartographer was the defining mission of CE’s campaign for me. From the moment I first stormed that beach with my CE pistol and the Halo theme playing in the background, I knew this mission would be something special. I really loved the sense of freedom it gave the player by letting you drive around the island and tackle objectives at your own pace.
The Covenant was the perfect combination of everything I’ve ever loved about a Halo campaign, all brought to life with the superb gameplay and level design that I love about Halo 3’s campaign. A beginning section similar to The Silent Cartographer, massive air battles, and the single most epic encounter in the entire franchise with the two scarabs. My jaw dropped when those scarabs fell out of the sky for the first time. It was a fantastic way to finish the fight with the Covenant.
New Alexandria had the most impact out of all of Reach’s missions. It was fun piloting the falcon from place to place above this massive city with some on-foot combat added for good measure. There were also so many cool easter eggs such as the flyable pelican and phantom and this magnificent gem. But the thing I remember the most about this mission was how effectively it instilled a sense a hopelessness with its visuals, music, and dialogue. We saw what used to be “the crown jewel” of Reach burnt and devastated by the Covenant, its skies blackened with smoke. The music evoked all the right emotions throughout (I mean just listen to this, the first and last part specifically). Not to mention that final cutscene where we basically have to accept that its only a matter of time before we lose and that the members Noble team would be lucky if they died at least thinking they were doing something meaningful, like Jorge did.

Wow. This is basically what I wrote about all three missions before I realised my initial post was far too long. Out of all the missions by far The Silent Cartographer had the most replay ability, The Covenant felt like Halo during it’s finest hour and New Alexandria felt like what Reach was all about; the fall of a great planet due to a massive covenant siege.
My favorites were probably the earth missions from halo 2 because I loved feeling like I was fighting with an army, and Halo Reach’s Tip of the Spear mission for the same purpose.
This is really hard so I’m gonna do a top 5:
5. Delta halo (halo2)
4. (I’m putting these two together) outskirts and metropolis (halo 2)
3. Halo (CE)
2. (I’m putting these two together): coastal highway and oni alpha site (ODST, although I do love all missions in ODST excluding tayari plaza)
(I’m putting these two together) exodus and new alaxandria (halo reach, although I do love every mission in reach.)
It’s so difficult because each game has incredible missions, but here goes.
Halo CE: 343 Guilty Spark/Truth and Reconciliation
Halo 2: Gravemind
Halo 3: The Covenant
Halo 4:Shutdown/Midnight
Halo 5 Guardians: Blue Team and the entirety of the Sanghelios arc. I just think of it as one giant setpiece.

Me too, they’re either short replies like this one, initial thread posts which I normally keep short so people don’t lose interest or massive viewpoints like yours xD. I always read other people’s long posts though because they’re normally much more interesting and have better points, yet again like yours.

There are just so many in each game it’s difficult to narrow them down. Personally though all games have at least 2 besides Halo 5 which really lacked stand out missions with cool objectives, level design and atmosphere. Hopefully Halo 6 makes that comeback.
