Benefits of High Jump Height

What are the benefits of being able to jump high like in previous Halo titles? Are there any disadvantages?

Other than looking really goofy with such a floaty jump?

  1. You can actually avoid grenades
  2. I makes CQB much more interesting. Jumping around to deke an opponent’s melee is great, but you just can’t do that in Reach.

You can maneuver the map much better and allow better map flow.

You can use jumps to land on objects and jump again during BR fights to out strafe your opponent.
You can ACTUALLY dodge grenades, god forbid. You have everything to gain by returning higher jump heights and nothing to lose.

OH God help us. We look goofy. Ignore the fact that it helps the game a whole bunch and further separates itself from the cliche pack and adds skill to the game, we look goofy. Better scrap higher jump height.

Yeah because how goofy you look jumping, which you don’t, is something that needs to be taken into consideration for gameplay. Moron.

Higher jump height allows for more versatility in gameplay and allowing people to conquer different obstacles, adding more variables to gameplay.

Halo 2 had it right.

I like being able to actually jump over and evade a ghost, or any vehicle for that matter. Now you pretty much NEED armor lock to have any chance of surviving a charging vehicle, and even then it ramps over you sometimes.

it ramps over me like 90% of the time…IMO AL is just 20 different effects thrown together to try to make sure the vehicle was disabled in some way, and it STILL didnt work.

You can be awesome.

You dont have to call him a moron. For all you know he could have been trying to be funny.

You can still jump over ghosts and revenants (easily, even), it’s the warthog that has the issue of not having too great of a jump height for.

You can actually avoid grenades and vehicles, frontal ninja a rushing noob and get to higher locations faster.

Exactly, I remember Halo 2 and 3 having jumps that just wouldn’t be possible in Reach. I’m okay with the floatiness as long as I can perform nice jumps. It’s fun when you jump over an opponent and completely throw off their aim.

We’re 50% heavier (at least in team classic).

So it isn’t floaty anymore.

To answer OPs question, higher jumps save you rockets and from grenades more efficiently.

So it’s beneficial for gameplay.

i support higher jump heights. in halo reach, when im not playing team classic, i feel like i have 1000000 sandbags strapped to my feet. jump heights should be what they are in team classic, across the board.

-dodge mini nukes
-help dodge the double melee durdles
-help maneuver around the map
-more skill gap in gracefully executed movements providing more of an advantage for people who can move / jump better.

i mean… what DISADVANTAGES are there?? any?

Taking the grav lift to the top of Zealot you probably wouldn’t make it down in time for the countdown. But this can easily be avoided. Other than that… no. And yes it should be implemented across the board.

None. High jumping adds so much more depth to the game. You’re not grounded when fighting. Let’s use that third dimension.

I might be wrong but wouldn’t that be affecting gravity, not jump height?

Speaking of melee… can we tone down the ridiculous lunge so that we can actually avoid it once in a while? Thanks:)

+39, 999, 999.

Is there ever a little bump, that you can’t run over, but don’t want to expose yourself to a 3 second long floaty jump?
