Greetings!
When i went off to university i elected not to bring an xbox, but rather to sink a little bit more money in a get a decentish laptop. I expected games requirements to catch up to me rather quickly (they did not disappoint), but so far i have had been able to play games to my (admittedly low standards) despite being under system requirements. The issue i may have with Halo Wars 2 is the CPU (and supposedly the GPU, but i’m not worried about that).
I was in a similar situation with Dishonored 2, and that game ran fine, but Halo Wars 2 seems to have steeper requirements. (if it helps anyone my cpu is an Intel i5 6200U) I know RTS games are more CPU intensive so i seems prudent to err on the side of caution.
I did play the blitz beta, and after some fiddling with the settings i got it to run at a point i would be happy with.
I normally wouldn’t hesitate to purchase the game and test it myself, but i also normally purchase games from steam, and the Microsoft store doesn’t seem to have a refund policy that is as customer friendly.
Thanks for the help!
Well, I wouldn’t recommend buying it of you’re far below the minimum requirements, even though they may not be the minimum at all. I suspect they write higher requirements than it essentially is.
If you know someone who owns it you could always try to borrow it in some way.
This is why we need demos back…

Well the blitz beta ran fine, and i presume that was in some way representative of the game.
Actually it would be logical for the beta to be less representative of the game performance, but it was kinda close to release so maybe not.
If you were able to Play the blitz Beta you are fine! I have a Surface Book I5 without GPU. The Blitz Beta wasn’t working on it but the final games runs very smooth on lower Settings!

Things between a beta and release can change. It may get better or worse.
However, there’s an issue with a beta compared to a demo. Betas are time limited and if you miss it you have no other chance of testing the game other than buying it or borrowing it.
