Being Social

Ya know, for demanding and begging for a social playlist we aren’t very social on it. I get an occasional cough or movement of the mic. I like to think im a pretty chill person to talk with. My voice isnt shrill and i enter the game sounding calm. No one however is on the mic. If you are playing solo. Maybe try plugging in that mic. I know its scary that you may run into a baby or heaven for bid someone younger then you but try it out. Cause we wont be a community if we are to afraid to talk to one another.

It’d be nice to run into someone to talk to during a match.

The only reason it’s called social is because the experience isn’t ranked. Otherwise it is pretty ironic isn’t it?

I mean they could’ve come up with another name for it like Proving Grounds or something to highlight that it isn’t the ranked lobby and that it’s mainly for practice.

I find this particularly lacking in custom games. I figured everyone would be chatting away having a blast.

While the customs browser is still amazing in all respects, I do wish people would be a little chattier.

this is my exact point Im trying to argue in the “Exuberant Witness Announcer is Great!!!” thread. People mentioned how they go into a game and automatically mute the entire chat, for the sake of hearing a little kid yell or loud music every now and then.
My point is that mindset is why the online community is dying. The fact you automatically assume something that doesn’t happen that often. Plus why let them ruin it?..just mute that specific player!
It makes literally no sense.

But but but, sometimes its hard to find the player who is making the noise, often i die trying to find them. Becasue most of the time the symbol that shows who it is, is also showing on other poeples gamertags. And that leads me to mute everyone. Or i could look harder a get shot while standing still. “This senario hapens more than you think”

generaly i talk alot and make an effort, i too see how no one talks. It sucks…

I’m thinking about putting the mic back on. it’s hard though after years of it proving useless.

I forgot about customs. Thats even worse. Why is it silent in there? Thats blows my mind even more so.

Ok
maybe i will start trying to talk on the mike a bit more

I would. Except for the fact that my mic is broken :frowning:

So you speak for everyone? Sorry but every time I play I always get the yelling, the crying, dogs and music. It much easier to hit mute all

It’s because current ranked playlists are boring. Why do you think elite players want 12-man Warzone? Because they get competitive in something fun

Glad I’m not the only one in “Rookie mode”. I’ve been stuck in this state since August… :\

Just to clarify, Rookie mode = you don’t have a mic

There is a difference between being afraid to talk and just not wanting to.
I accepted a party invite from randoms just last night. They randos were good-natured enough, but one of them casually used racial slurs in a joking manner. I could have done without hearing such things.
The anonymity of the internet may not lead everyone to become total dillweeds, but for many it let’s them abandon just enough reservation to be insensitive.

Lol, I think you only read the title and not the actual body of the post.

343 making it impossible to talk in pregame lobbies seems to have caused a lot of people to stay in their party chats. I rarely use my headset anymore when im solo searching. I usually do when im searching with people in my friends list and even then we are in party chat.
I gave up on other headset users pretty much.

People tend to use their mic for party chat only. The ideal would be going into any match making game, meet new folk and co-ordinate your play together. Unfortunately the reality is something much different. It only takes one person on a mic to screw things up for everyone.

As soon as I hear some kid shouting something stupid, or someone with their TV up too loud, I mute the entire room.

I think having searchable custom games might change this a bit. Set up a custom game and keep the folk who you like and kick those who you don’t.

I usually am talking to my friends on Discord, or listening to music when I play Halo 5. I don’t really care if I hear someone talking, unless it’s squeaker or their game audio plays through the mic.

It seems like game lobbies have been much quieter in general ever since party chat was first introduced back in 2008. I know I’m more likely to be in a party chat than game chat, especially in social playlists where communication isn’t important.
