So I heard on the latest “ask 343” on YouTube that you can save marines from seeing smoke signal distresses and you can bring marines with you wherever. I can imagine them getting in your vehicle but can you walk with them or give them vehicles and they drive with you? Also will it be like halo 5 where you can tell them commands? What are you guys hoping for?

I would really love for a system where individual marines are tracked throughout the game as NPCs. I think this is unlikely, but at the least this is the experience I would appreciate:
Most Marines (and ODSTs) are unique models, and carry unique weapons. If I go out of the way to rescue them, I would love it if they don’t then just disappear at the end of the mission. I would love an evolution of the fireteams mechanic in the reach campaign, where each Marine, ODST, Spartan, or Elite NPC in the game has a name, and a given appearance. Say I go to rescue the first team of Marines and I save Marine 1 and 2, but 3 is killed, then Marine 1 and 2 return to the forward operating base and hang out there, to defend it and go on missions. There could then be some system where however you equip weapons at the base, you can also form a fireteam (ideally say of 10-15 people,) then you can get them all into your pelican or form a warthog convoy or something and go do a mission. Some day this could evolve to including NPC characters like Blue Team who add optional commentary if you bring them along.
I just think it would suck if you put in the effort to rescue marines then they just disappear, or if the marines move around with the same kind of AI they’ve always had… frustrating to spend 10 minutes rescuing someone only to watch them run into a wall for 5 minutes and be stuck.
I never thought about equipping the marines with weapons but it would make sense to do so since in the older games you trade weapons with them pretty much equipping them for battle or giving them a plasma pistol and taking their rocket launcher!
