Having trouble getting connected?
If my setup didn’t work for you then try visiting one of the following threads for extra help:
Feel free to post here when you are planning on hosting a lobby yourself as I would like this thread to turn into the community’s XBConnect hub.
Also, feel free to post settings for some of your favorite custom gametypes as well to share with each other and attract players for some custom games.
I use this too. Very good, I’m glad I can actually play the original multiplayer online for once. If anyone want to play online, my username is the same as my gamertag/username.
I have also been attempting to revitalise Halo 2. You have my upmost support.
XBC is a brilliant program, it provides the connection quality of Halo 2’s golden era on Xbox Live, complete with server browsers and voice communication. Unfortunately it is currently missing that which made Halo 2 so special: the community. As a result there is little variety (the majority of games are BR/Snipes on Lockout) and little laughter (a significant proportion of the playing population do not bother with headsets, or are non-English speakers).
My attempts to change this have so far been met with limited success, as I haven’t really the time/energy needed to get things off the ground. There is however plenty of interest; the more individuals we have willing to devote effort to the cause, by organising events and raising awareness, the more likely it will succeed.
Should you be interested please join up and spread the word, so we may collaborate our efforts and achieve what I/we cannot accomplish alone. The group can act as an organisational HUB to provide tech support for others, build friendships, find players and organise events. Those events can then be cross-posted where permitted - here in this forum for example.
Let’s bring the community back to the game that set the standard for online console gaming.
I’m going to try and host some games this weekend. I’ll post here when they’re up. Post any settings that you all would like to play. No DLC-required matches though as the only way to get them now is through a rare multiplayer disk.
We’ll kick back, play some Halo 2, and talk Halo 4.
I’m still not sure on how to do this. I have a computer, a wireless router, and a wireless xbox. Once I install XBC on my computer, do I need anything more?

The disk is fairly easy to get your hands on; there are always several going for a low price on Ebay.
There is an event being played tonight, hosted by gruntyII7
Time: 1am GMT, 8pm Eastern, 7pm Central, 6pm Mountain, 5pm Pacific
No map packs required.
The password will be grh2
I’ll play this weekend!I never got a chance to play Halo 2 online. I just need to get this Connect thing working. I downloaded it yesterday but it didn’t pickup my console.

Agreed, everyone feel free to join and play tonight with us. It will be a good experiance to enjoy and old classic.
Finding your console:
5) Start Halo 2 and go to the system link screen where your console looks for games.
6) Open XBC on your PC. Go to Tools > Options > General Options.
7) In the upper-right corner of your screen click Find, check all boxes, click OK.
8) XBC should now find your console and get it’s MAC address so you won’t have to find your console again each time you play XBC.
9) Test by joining a lobby and seeing if a game shows on your Halo 2 system link screen.
If anyone still has problems let me know as this is how I’ve got mine setup. I’ve tried many different connection styles, but this was the only 1 that worked for me.
I used to play Halo 2 on XLink Kai years ago and have thought and looked at XBConnect for a long time now but now my router and modem is in a different room so I have been using my Macbook to connect my 360 to the internet. Can XBConnect run on Macs?

Thats awesome! But unfortunately I don’t have a physical copy of Windows.
> Is this allowed? Or is this like modding? I don’t get it so sorry to sound dumb
Yes, it’s perfectly fine. If 343 had a problem with it then this thread wouldn’t have been pinned.
It’s not really modding, it’s just a computer program that “tricks” your Xbox into thinking it’s playing a system link game when it reality you’re playing over the internet. Many people use it now since the Halo 2 servers were cut a few years ago (my God has it been that long?).
I used to use XBC but I don’t anymore. With as often as I host LAN events, and with all the original xboxes Ive got, me and 10+ of my friends and just go old school and play.
But, we should try and setup community play dates on XBC, spread the word. It would be cool to have some 8 v 8 Team Slayer on Coag or snipers on Waterworks again
