I just recently been really getting into RTS and especially Halo Wars. I’m learning little by little by playing Private Matches with my friends and I’m learning little by little as I lose. I seem to enjoy using the Brute Chieftain and The Prophet. What should I be focusing as I start and which Character would be recommended for me to start out as. Any tips would help!
I say start with the leader you are most comfortable with. Do you want tips for 1v1 or teams? You can add me if you like and we can scrim.

Me too, if my frlist is full send a message and i’ll delete someone.
best to do with the brute is go either temple 1st or second and rush w/brutes what gets complicated is knowing where to place ur units depending on supply pad placement and turrets i usually let my leader tank the damage and micro the brutes away so get can get dps on pads while noit getting hit you always have a blindspot where 2 turrets on 1 side cant hit u on the opposite so what will happen usually u will have hogs or flamers to push u away or towards the turrets then id go air to keep VD down and its always good to have a tech2 brute in a tank fight gives u a good edge anyways playing brute is always fun!
I’d start out easy and play forge or brute because nearly all their strats are simple and easy to learn.
just work with the leader that you are most comfortable with and play skirmish maps and learn more about the vehicles infantry and aircrafts and special forces and just work from there.

Don’t get too used to private match. If your friends know they can beat you then they’ll mess and give you an incorrect perception of what the game’s really like online. Take a few minutes off a day to go into your own games with randoms, it’s a lot different having to hold out on your own while your teammates go spartan’d elephants and locusts (-)_(-)
But yeah, when you get better play random leaders, it’ll force you to adapt, which is good because you can spread a certain strategy over more than one leader, especially for covy…Each time you win, think about what tipped the scale in your favour (British), and then practice and adapt that.
This is one of the most simple RTSs in existence, but there’s loads of little tips and tricks which you should watch out for =) I’d add you, but xbox live gold enjoys trolling me…

I create a post long ago for the same reasons, and a VERY kind forum user provided me with GREAT links:

Wow I haven’t really been checking up on my post… OOOPS. But thank’s guy, I’ve been playing more and more and now I got the hang of the game. If anyone of you guys wanna add me, I’ll be happy to do some scrims with you guys
Play as the UNSC, not the Covenant. The UNSC’s units are stronger than the Covenant’s.
BEST THING
Quit every game against higher rank- dont even try it

Also those cost more, take more time to build and you get less of those because population limit.
