Been off h5 for a while to come back to...

Hey, guys been off halo 5 for a while with little games in between when i feel like playing halo 5.
I mainly know game on my pc still running a controller, grew up using one cant get used to mouse and keyboard.
But I come back and I dunno I go into any game
And I’m getting pumped like example 10 kills to 16 deaths which is pretty bad for me.
I used to get an average of 1.2-2.0 k/d on any play list. And it’s not enjoyable as when it comes to halo im quite competitive.

I dunno if its me and the long stints in-between halo sessions or going from a pc back to an xbox one x, or the player base is soo small I get this feeling from waiting a minute or two to find a game even in ranked slayer, used to be instant when last played that every game I join im getting pumelled.

I would tend to think that the player base is too small is some of the playlists now. I feel this even big team and super fiesta… it takes forever just to get my daily win because everyone is super sweaty and I’m playing with people way out of my league. I think most people went to firefight to try and finish 152 before Infinite, or they already got 152 and went to mcc… either way… I think it’s more the population than you.

I will say though I’ve been working on OG Halo achievements in between playing 5 and it’s been rough at times going from the OG controller set up to the set up in H5, so it’s possible there might be a little of that…

I think that many of the people who play halo 5 today are people who have been in the game for a long time and now they are very good and also something that I have noticed in recent years is that in certain lists of mainly competitive games such as non-sociable arenas it is extremely difficult to find a game but if you manage to find one it usually takes a long time

welcome back. Firstly, taking time off will build up rust. Halo 5 is a very competitive game…while you take time off others stay on with the grind getting better. I took time off before and when I came back the people I played with were an entire tier better than me…some more than a tier. It was hard to keep up and discouraging me a lot.

I stuck with it tho. Although it sucks to see your rank drop…why would a player want a rank that isn’t really reflective of their current skill level? It’s meaningless, and besides that the rankings are there more of a gage to find fair matches…but with that being said there’s our csr on screen rank and a hidden match making rank (MMR). So despite what you see on screen…a daimond 3 could be a champion last season, and an onyx this season could be a player that fluctuates up and down from daimond to onyx all season. We’re humans and not machines, so we have good days and bad days.

The player base isn’t that big, but I dont struggle to find a match at all. Maybe it’s the play list you’re searching? Or maybe the systems having a hard time calculating your skill level right now because it threw you to the wolves you used to fight right off the bat which back then you could handle but today are a bit above you until you Resharpen your blade.

My suggestion…if you love halo and like halo 5…keep at it. Don’t pay attention to your rank. Pay attention to getting better. If you find yourself dying too much…you can stream and set your streams to VOD so you have your footage, or you can use theater and watch your recent videos. Find out what’s going right and what’s going wrong. What could be done better etc etc.

Goodluck bro. If a old dude like me can keep on pushing…I think anyone can do it if they really wanted to.

I just reinstalld the game last week because search times on MCC are atrocious. I did pretty bad by my standards as well but its fine, just takes time to get back into the groove.
