Been inactive for ~2ish years, what did I miss?

Hi all, just started playing Halo again this past weekend. Just wondering what happened recently. I’ve been pretty much dark on all gaming news and only found out about Halo: Infinite in the past month or two. I really like what’s happening and want to get back into stuff. Is there anything or anywhere that would be good for me to get my started? Thanks!

MCC has been updated. Matchmaking is much much better. H5 added new maps to infection & super fiesta.

I guess I’ll mention the bigger changes to H5.

1) The skill matching has been updated to True Skill 2 which is getting updated again this Wednesday. Read this as well.

2) A lot of the Arena weapons received a weapon update talked about here.

3) More commendations have been added including a recent one called Targetmaster which gives you 5 magnum skins.

4) The Quickplay playlist was added for new players. It only has 3 maps and a max party of 2.

5) The HCS playlist was changed to Team Arena and the old Team Arena was changed to Core Play, moved to social and is now a rotational playlist. Talked about here.

6) Social now has two rotational playlists which include Action Sack, Grifball, Snipers and other ones that are more Action Sack or niche like Castle Wars, H3 playlist or Rock 'N Rail for example.

7) You won’t get banned in ranked games if you aren’t the first person to quit and then decide to quit yourself, but you will lose the same amount of CSR as if you lost the game. Mentioned here.

8) This will be the last season for H5 eSports and now the focus will be more towards MCC. Talked about here.

9) There are 3 search options now. Focused, Balanced and Expanded. Basically, Focused is used to find people closest to you, the tightest skill matching and you won’t match full parties for a set amount of time. The other two lessen those restrictions with Expanded being the loosest and you can match parties instantly. You’ll want to use Expanded if you have trouble finding games. Mentioned here.

10) Warlords is the newest game type in Warzone for teams of 12 and 6 only that can go in and play each other. It’s not actually new though since it was first implemented in early 2017 which they talked about it here.

11) If you see a star next to a playlist, that means it’s featured and you can get more or double XP from that playlist.

12) Almost forgot, but Breakout was merged into the ranked Elimination playlist in case you were wondering where it went.

13) This one talks about the latest Warzone REQ level changes and the newish Halo arcade game Fireteam Raven.

Are you curious just about Halo 5, or everything Halo in general?

I think Lukepowa summed it up quite nice. My only gripe is mini games don’t appear in Social anymore. Other than that, Firefight is back, kinda. Its Warzone Firefight, and I kinda like it over the old firefight.

  • Weapon Tuning - The BR is useless - The magnum is all you’ll ever need - HCS is the new team arena - The old team arena is coreplay and is rotational - Team Arena removed spartan charge and ground pound - Camo is stronger and you can walk full speed while still being shielded - Breakout 2 is a new playlist based off of Breakout 1 and is included in the Elimination playlist - The gungoose is better than everyone knows - The MCC is fixed - Warzone match times have been decreased so no farming - If you lose a match you will lose rank - More power weapons have come outI probably should have read LUKEPOWA’s post before making this…

I also have a collection of hyperlinked information all relating to Halo 5 HERE in case there’s something within it that you’d be curious about.

Custom browsers has been added therefore you can hope into other fun customs games if there is any. However, it’s dominated by clan kids doing clan recruitments, clan raids, or clan socials

I like clan socials…because i can kill a few people who are in a group with a rocket and then leave right after before i get hunted down by the host.

Everything, I have a ton of books and even the Halo 2 slurpee cups and a ton of other stuff. I used to be up to date on everything.

Well, MCC has been getting a huge amount of updates. I dare say it’s where most of 343’s outward attention is right now.
If you want to see what’s been going on, just check out the pinned topics at the top of the MCC forum, and have a glance through the News Blog posts as well.
TONS of info in those.
Also, there is a Trello board for MCC as well.

Competitive H5 is almost done - the upcoming tournament in Atlanta is the last official esports H5 tournament. So be sure to watch it.
Take a look here. There have been many new fan-made Forge maps that have made it into matchmaking - jump in and take a look at some of the playlists!

343 licensed out to an arcade company, and there is now Halo:Fireteam Raven available in arcades across the US and in some other countries as well.
Here’s a good starting point. And you’ve by now heard about Halo Infinite - the next Halo game.

There are some new books out and such - generally info about those in the news blogs that you can peruse.

That’s about all I have for you =)

I started playing again this past weekend also after just about two years off. Having a blast with it but can’t get a Matchmade game of Slayer for the life of me.

I wouldn’t say they’re that important. They’re the cringey role-playing type.
