I have assassinated this stupid elite more times than I can count… Followed this fix that didn’t do a single thing except revert all my settings:

This happened to my buddy too yesterday. The thing just wouldn’t unlock for him. He assassinated the elite like 6 times before we just said screw it.
This is a known issue at 343i. They said they are looking into it but it’s been a few weeks so who knows when it will be fixed.

They already looked into it and found the issue, the workaround has been posted here:

The workaround clears that out allowing it to be properly completed. The challenge itself works just the way the achievement used to - it requires some precise timing and velocity.
Just a case of trying another few times or looking up some different YouTube videos. Everyone I’ve encountered so far who said the workaround failed to work, ended up getting it shortly after trying some different angles or crouching before landing.

I really dont want to lose my playlist progress and private forge maps. Hopefully they put out an actual fix instead of a bandaid that cuts deeper.
That’s the fix unfortunately, there’s nothing else to fix. The challenge itself isn’t broken or bugged in any way, it’s just that some users were able to flip the flag before it went live because it uses the same flag as the achievement.

so what about everyone who hasnt seen the forums yet on how to actually complete this. I imagine there are a lot of people who dont know this thing is bugged and will continue to attempt the achievement till the season is up since the most common response to “i cant get the achievement” is “git gud”.
The support topic has been posted in multiple places outside of the forums, those needing help have lots of places they can find the correct info. Additionally, with the store being added to MCC it’s possible it could come back and be available at some point in the future
For those who haven’t got the challenge or the achievement yet: I believe the single most important point is to make sure that you’ve depleted or come out of sprint before you do the assassination. This has been the case with this since the 360 Reach.
