The Beam Rifle has been confirmed. At PAX Prime the Beam Rifle was dropped as random ordinance in Exile on CTF. You can see a little bit of Gameplay here:

The commentary is obnoxious but the gameplay is still great gameplay.

I just hope the Beam Rifle isn’t a complete re-skin of the Sniper Rifle, like it was in past games. 
I love dat design.
I hope it still keeps its overheat function. I haven’t seen the limits of this gun yet.

The new design is unnecessary. It was fine in Halo 2/3, but I’ll live.
Missed the beam rifle but feel slightly guilty as I couldn’t remember whether it was in Halo 3 or not!
