I know this has been said before but I hope you all realize the last Halo would’ve been Reach if 343 didn’t step in. Microsoft funds and owns 343. The head of 343 is the VP at Microsoft. I recently just heard of a longtime employee resign due to all the havoc and whatnot. I say we give 343 a well-deserved break and channel all these complaints to big M.

And once you get it out your system, can we have more positive posts? It brings me down everytime I check in just to see someone else complain about this or that. It’s Halo man. As soon as we have a custom games browser, you will experience true Halo fun.

She’s the VP of Xbox Game Studios, not Microsoft, and any other game published under there that isn’t Gears of War 5 has been free of the overly monetized problem. It’s what she directly has influence on (343) that gets forced into terrible moves

I would have much preferred the series ended with Reach, given everything that’s happened since.

Halo ending in Reach would be great. It would mean halo would be a great game franchise that’d be remembered for its solid titles.
Now halo is a brand that used to be good but has lost its sheen due to 343 constantly messing up. Dredged up every few years to extract some money based on past glories.
People mad at 343 aren’t mad at the run of the mil programmers who work all the hard hours. They’re mad at their leaders. Just like being mad at microsoft doesn’t mean its the fault of their random tech support guys or server managers.
Saying its the big bad owning company’s fault is just a way to pass the buck. 343 has consistently released bad halo games, I don’t get why their leadership deserves a free pass.

Funny how Microsoft also owns the studios that made Forza 5 and Pychonauts 2 this year and those games turned out fine and complete.

Technically you don’t have to play any of the games after Reach. Nobody is forcing you to keep playing.

Of course I know it’s not 343’s fault. They’re trying their best and are doing a good job. It’s the higher ups who are ruining the game.

343 was fully aware what they were getting into signing that content. When anyone can shows me the actual contract that says Microsoft has full creative control, then and only then I’ll have a second thought.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter WHO messed up. 343 hasn’t put out a single good Halo yet. Only good things were MCC, and that was because they already got the good source and STILL struggled for years to get it somewhat playable, and Halo Wars 2 because the majority of that was outsourced to other devs.
At this point, i really don’t care who keeps messing up i just want them to stop.

If you are trying to create a separation between the two, you don’t understand what Halo, and 343 are to MS.

From my understanding, 343 only interacted with Certain Affinity in terms of overarching storylines. The puzzle pieces are coming together that were laid out in HW2 with the banished and Atriox.
Just for clarification 343 didn’t step in to ensure the continuation of the Halo franchise. Microsoft created 343 specifically to work on Halo after Bungie announced they were splitting from Microsoft.
Regarding how much 343 are to blame for the issues with the game, according to reports from within 343 many of the issues with the game are of their own making with different teams within 343 competing and not co-operating together which resulted in the game not being ready for it’s original launch and, even with an extra year of development, allegedly as much as 2/3 of the content cut from the game.
I’m sure there will be some decisions that are entirely or at least partly to do with Microsoft but that doesn’t mean that 343 has no responsibility at all, ultimately they are the ones that made the game.
