They are legitimate sources if you know nothing of the game. They don’t lie.
Unfortunately, if IGN is your source, all you get is “Campaign wasn’t great, gameplay is gud, and Warzone is the most revolutionary thing evar.” Please.
I comprehend you loud and clear: You don’t like seeing reviews that speak negatively against a game you like.
Some people like to see reviews before dishing out $60 on a game. Get over it.

I don’t trust Bdobbins because he doesn’t actually play some of the games he reviews. Most of the video footage he shows of games is actually someone else as well.

The moment you form your opinion of a game based on someone else’s, is it really your opinion after that? Because to a degree that’s what a review is, an opinion. Personally I don’t look at reviews from IGN, GS (GameSpot), angryjoe, or anyone for that matter.
I got MCC day one because why not? All four games in one with the MP? Crazy not to. Then it was released and we know the story from there.
I don’t need someone else’s opinon of a game to tell me whether or not I like it, you know how I know whether or not I like the game? I play it. For example lots of people hate the dark soul series because of the difficulty, I in turn like it because it’s challenging. Yes I’m aware that is a bad example.
Lol, nevermind that BDobbins basically praises Halo 5 the entire video and rates it fairly positively at the end, no… He’s made one or two rants about Halo so he’s dead to me! I prefer blissful ignorance!
You all hold these ridiculous grudges and then strawman the crap out of anyone who challenges your thinking. If you guys accomplish nothing else I swear you’ve done a fantastic job making it look bad to defend 343.

That’s all well. That’s how you do it.
Personally, I look at all the details for the game before purchasing (For example, looking at what’s available at launch, what the mechanics are, news, etc.), then I rent it if I’m skeptical. Or I buy it if I usually have a good feeling from it.
But just straight up dismissing reviews is silly. Especially if the reviews go in depth and really show people what the game is like.
One point, among others that he mention, that I liked was his thought on Warzone. I’d think it’d be pretty cool to have some objective gameplay added. Maybe raise the score from 1000 to 1500 or so and add some CTF, KotH, and maybe add an extra bass for Assault.
His point on sprint was completely valid though it made me sad that I realized that Lockout will never be the same on H5.
> The moment you form your opinion of a game based on someone else’s, is it really your opinion after that?
Well, when someone changes your beliefs through good debate, are they really your own beliefs after that?
If some guy says the game sucks because he didn’t like the story or the characters…I’d still have to remain open minded with my purchase and figure it out for myself. Though if he showed me cutscenes from the game itself that I thought were cringeworthy he’s already convinced me. Sure they could be cherry picked scenes, but if I’m already pretty shaky about purchasing the game in the first place it’s probably enough.
If some guy says the game sucks because the controls are wonky and the optimization is terrible…there’s a pretty good chance the game legitimately sucks. Because those kind of flaws have very little room for subjectivity.
Depends on what exactly is being reviewed and how it’s reviewed. Personally I don’t rely on reviews much, but I like to play devils advocate when I’m bored. Reviews alone don’t solely determine what I buy (I’m not gonna buy some random game just because it has a 100 on metacritic), but they are a useful guide for helping me make a more informed decision, or they might even bring to my attention a good/bad game I hadn’t even heard of before.
That guy is the Trump of videogame reviewers, meaning he’s self-centered and doesn’t think before talking and I still wonder how the hell does he have so many followers.
Why do you people keepgiving this guy attention (and ad revenue)
He literaly has just been fishing for rage clicks since he got popular raging about Destiny.
He does not bring up any decent points anymore and just finds nitpicky reasons to bash games.
Also, Daily Reminder this was the guy who intentionally went around spreading false information that Halo 5 had killstreaks and Create-A-Class and more aim assist than the other games

yeah trusting a review of a Halo campaign played on Normal, good plan.

The most hillarious thing is that the Angry Joe review was literaly all based on the fact that he bum rushed though the game on what is essentially easy-mode and him completely misrepresenting the Rec System. (And before anyone accuses me of being a fanboy, blindly defending the Rec system, feel free to check my forum activity, you’ll see I made an entire thread detailing why it does not work and should not be in the next game)
I understand he gets out of hand at some points but I love his overly long videos. They’re fun to watch. I see no problem with them. I get that some people don’t have the time but oh well. Important topics take time to digest and whatnot. Videos need to be long. I think 20-30 min is best for this stuff.

That’s just to help get clips. He plays the game he just has leatherwood or a fan send in bad as clips to make the video more interesting…duh.

No he didnt? I’d like to see that video. I believe you’re confused with H4. Cause H4 did have those things lol
