Battlepass in times of Forge and Custom Games... 🤔

I’m not sure if anyone already had the same thought, but…have you ever wondered, how the Battlepass will work, once Forge has finally arrived and a Custom Games becomes more popular?
(I know, I know, this might still take over a year. But let’s keep dreaming.)

To gain Battlepass progress, you at least need to complete regular matches. But when you spend hours and hours in Forge, this doesn’t count as any completed match at all.

On top of that, there are Challenges to gain extra XP. As you all know, most of the time they are linked to specific game modes or even playlists. I guess Custom Games won’t count, then…?
Don’t get me started with Events, which have a limited time frame.

After 2h of Forge, there might not be much free time left to grind the Battlepass.

So, the whole Forge Community actually spends a lot of time engaging with the game - and basically keeping it alive. But this part of the community operates separate/parallel to the Battlepass construct.

I wonder how (of “if”?) they will fix this.

There will be no change. They need the BP and Challenges to drag players back to play matchmaking. Needless to say, people would rather not get any new cosmetics than be forced to play what they don’t like.

If Forge + CGB and BR mode turn out well, Matchmaking will die. The reason being they have made it so that matchmaking feels like utter garbage to play.

Could’ve lifted MCC’s system BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
