Yeah, its way too much of a grind. If I played like you did in a game like Destiny 2, I’d have gotten a good 30 levels in their battlepass; and even then it’d be permitted to keep grinding that week. This hard-stop design is not working.
Just got lucky had some with big payouts plus lots of games played
By playing lots of games.
I did the math on this…
The Battle Pass is 100,000 XP.
Our weekly challenges are worth 4,600 XP. With the current 50 XP per match system, if you played 5 games a day, that would get you 1,750 XP a week (1,750 + 4,600 = 6,350 XP per week).
100,000 XP / 6,350 XP = 15.75 weeks to complete.
If you bought the 25 level skip:
75,000 XP / 6,350 XP = 11.81 weeks to complete.
Looking at the 100,000 XP version, I’d be curious if 343i were planning to maintain this system if the season were 3 months, as that time frame is more than 3 months. Or they expect players to play more than 5 games a day for 3 months straight… or even they designed it in such a way that you would need to buy the 25 tier skip in order to have it completed before 3 months.
I know that the seasons don’t expire, but I’m sure most players would like to have it completed before the next begins.
Season 1 Lasts until May. The fact that after (Two?) weeks of playing you’re almost 1/4 of the way there means you’re making good progress. I wouldn’t want a Battlepass that could be finished in like two weeks. Because once you finish, what left is there? Now if you want more you could always just get 2xp, but that’s your choice. As a non-paying gamer if you’re playing through at decent speed it should take you much longer than a couple weeks to finish it. this isn’t a speedrun lmao
I agree that how you make progression is pretty bad but I think the rate of progression is alright. Ideally in my opinion the battlepass should be roughly the same with a few more rewards thrown in for each level and players should be rewarded for playing matches and doing well. The only big change would be to split season one into multiple pieces. Players are going to grind out the entire pass as fast as possible and then have nothing to do. If the battlepass was released in separate parts players would feel like they are making much more progress now and have something to look forward to later as well.
Well keep in mind we have the main Season 1 Battlepass and then on top of that, the four or so Event Battlepasses that we’ll be getting throughout the Season for free. So even with a maxed Battlepass there is indeed stuff to work towards and unlock
I see you defending this awful system in every thread you post in. Do you work for 343? Do they pay you commission?
I did similar math and got about 16 weeks to complete as well, and around 250 hours give or take of actual play time, assuming you’re ONLY playing while you have weekly challenges available.
The biggest problem is really the absolutely ridiculous challenges. A lot of the other complaints are actually about the items in the pass which is a separate issue. Currently I’m f2p until I decide if I actually like this game. Coming from halo 5 the weapon sandbox is a downgrade other than the AR actually feels like a viable primary weapon for once which is great since it’s sort of a flagship weapon in the way chief is the flagship character for the franchise.
No, I just like to spend my time doing things I enjoy. As someone who values their vision and what they are doing, it’s important I post my positive feedback on the forums so they know it’s not all negative.
Monday was one set of weeklys, The natural reset comes Tuesday so that was the second set. Then Thursday the update came and reset again for a 3rd set. So it is possible if he did a bunch on Monday.
When you run out of challenges, that’s when it’s time to hone your skills in ranked arena.
All about the grind
There should be a battlepass every 3 month in my opinion, like in games like COD.
Right now it means that there will be no more BP content in a long time, and I find this BP to have little content.
There will certainly have many shop items tho, so people who gets bored of little content are enticed to pay those bundles. So the BP cost 10 bucks (which is acceptable) but you only have few content for 6 months, great.
Also as someone coming from halo 5, SR152 and Champion rank in Ranked Arena, I disagree and I feel the Sandbox is far better balanced and the weapons are much more unique than they were in Halo 5. Alot of the weapons had the exact same function just with reskins. For example, the DMR and Carbine, or the Sniper and Beam Rifle.
Halo Infinite’s sandbox has some weapons that take a little more skill to use effectively. The Hydra is a bit different, the Heatwave isn’t the one-shot shotgun that people think it is, the Pulse Carbine is a weapon alot of people avoid because it’s not as immediately understandable as a sidekick or AR.
The Sandbox doesn’t suck, some of the weapons just require a little more finesse to understand.
I’m thinking more of a fun scale here rather than balance. I’m a lowly platinum not champion lmao. The sandbox just isn’t as fun imo.
In terms of fun, I agree. I miss my Plasma Caster
I agree, but I don’t see the wrong in that, these weapon have slight changes (Magazine for DMR, Supercombine effect for the Needle Rifle), (Magazine for Sniper, Heat for Beam Rifle) they may be very similar in role, but I don’t think that all weapons should be unique, its nice to have UNSC/Covenant counterparts.
Sometimes I want to play with Covenant Carbine, some times I want to use the DMR or the Needle Rifle. I would like to have these weapons in the game because they are iconic and make the game feels “Halo”.
The Pulse Carbine is literally under powered, It is weaker than the starter weapons and I didn’t find one time where it was more useful than other weapons, if i want to remove the shield the Plasma Pistol does a better job, sure there isn’t always the same weapons in the maps.
The heatwave is the new plasma caster. Don’t zoom in and this pro bounce skills transfer right over.
I totally meant Cindershot, not heat wave
It’s not so much that having a packed-sandbox is bad, it’s just that it’s not ideal. Halo 5 was under alot of fire for having so many variants of weapons that are very close in function. I’m with you-I love using the Carbine and DMR and Beam Rifle, that variety in weapons is part of the fun. But it gets to a certain point where it becomes so dense that some weapons get left behind or feel redundant in function.
Anyway, that’s just 343’s reasoning for slimming down the sandbox or transforming/combining weapons into one new weapon. Scattershot turned into the Heatwave, Plasma caster turned into the Cindershot, DMR turned into the Commando, etc.
Pulse carbine is a three shot with a perfect kill bro, it’s not underpowered at all. That being said, I suck with it so bad so I rarely pick it up. It’s meant to be a long range gun, the further you are, the stronger the tracking is for it.
