Battle Royale is not the answer

Just got done playing a Battle Royal like map in custom games and it felt pretty good. Landed on a busted rooftop with only a broken energy sword, quickly got a needler and notice someone flying down to the same roof I was on. Killed him and was able to secure a battle rifle.

Got around 3 kills till someone got me with a direct stick from a Plasma Grenade. Ran around with a Battle Rifle and Shock Rifle most of the time on the bottom of the map.

I’ll probably give it a few goes when I get more time, but I saw nothing really bad about the mode. Might be good to let dead players have something to do while they wait perhaps.

Fair enough. I’m not exactly up to date on the latest trends, being an old school arena shooter fan at heart, but I thought that Battle Royales were still pretty popular. There’s no doubt that the market for them has become over saturated though.

Until 343 starts using the whole Halo Universe for Multiplayer and stop with this humanity armory is stronger than everything else thing it won’t matter what they come out. Halo has the potential to becoming huge again. But if things continue being built for the less then 10% of the FPS Genre it will never become what it could be.

Whoever said Battle Royale was the answer?

I agree, I prefer fast paced combat myself. I don’t care for running around for half an hour collecting loot only to be one shot killed by some sniper dude with a mouse from across the map.

So, let me get this straight: You want a Halo title to fail?

You have no idea what a smart move really is. Most of the posters here want a million different playlists to break up the player base.

Nice! I was 14 when Halo CE came out. I’ve been enjoying the games ever since Xbox CE (except 5 which I didn’t love). Same with my siblings and friends.

I think Battle Royale will be a fun addition to the game. I don’t think it will be the game winner, like some seem to think, but I’m not at all against it being a regular playlist. It would be a shame to see you go just because it may become a playlist you don’t need to join.

I’m thinking Corvid is worth an “ignore”.

Thank you! Again, Im not totally against a Battle Royale but I’d much rather see some of the CORE playlists like Firefight, Infection, Griffball and others added to the Social Playlist. In regards to a Battle Royale in Halo, All they need to do is upgrade Warzone mode from Halo 5 and expand it a bit IMO.

My biggest gripe with Halo right now is it seems to have a ceiling that stops at PVP… Im just wondering if Halo will ever be able to pull of an Open World with expansions similar to Destiny2 where we can create our own stories and play as our created Spartans… Id freakin enjoy that man…

Yeah, I can see that. It would be great to have those CORE gametypes added to Social!

I was pretty sad when they said they are indefinitely putting campaign expansions on hold. And I’d love to have my custom Spartan able to go out and fight Banished and Covenant.

When there are Battle Royale games dropping like flies, it doesn’t take a genius to realize you probably shouldn’t copy a failing strategy.

But you’re right, what do I know? Surely what I’m seeing is a fluke, and the next 3 battle royale games will be an immeasurable success because there simply aren’t enough BR games around.

Edit: And wouldn’t a BR be another mode to split the playerbase? So why would you defend it? Do you think it’ll be enough?

Why are you worried about it at all? If it’s fun, play it. If you don’t, don’t play it.

Grown men and women who have been doing this for years probably know better than you do.

Because if it preforms poorly enough, there won’t be enough people playing Halo to make consistent lobbies. The game needs to be fun for enough people, and I fear a BR won’t be good enough when there are better options. If you’re fine fighting bots, by all means, go nuts, but I’d like for the game to succeed.

The game developers, maybe, but the people making decisions clearly don’t, because again, look at how poorly this title launched, and just because they’ve been doing this for years, doesn’t mean they’re good at it.

I like your profile photo, but you’re wrong. There will, usually, always be another.

There will always be another battle royale? I don’t doubt it. I’m just saying the chances of Tatanka being “enough” is low, or at the very least, there are better options they could take.

The Master Chief story is wearing thin, the BR is a step in the right direction. Where’d the Guardians go? It’s time to move on from what Halo 1-6 were.

This is the point we’re debating.

C’mon man, I know you can keep up here. We’re going in circles now.

Yeah - but you’re wrong.
