A big topic floating around with Halo Infinite is if it will or won’t have a Battle Royale mode. For you cavemen out there, battle Royale is where a certain number of people drop into a map with nothing and have to find items and fight to the death. Obviously it goes much deeper than that but those are the basics. Now I am in the middle of whether or not there should be one in halo infinite. I am fine with one as long as they don’t take from other modes for it. If they have to sacrifice stuff out of the campaign and forge to do a battle Royale then I don’t want it. However if they end up doing one I will be 100% ok with that given everything else got as much attention and focus. What I’m saying is I don’t want it to be their mainstream idea. Now I’m going to discuss my opinion on the pros and cons of a battle Royale in Halo infinite because there are multiple of them.
First I want to start with a pro. A battle Royale in halo would have a very cool map. Halos would provide such an amazing map for it with all the greenery and forerunner buildings. Think about levels like halo from CE, the covenant from 3, the silent cartographer from CE, delta halo and regret from 2, assault on the control room from CE with the snow. Levels like this provide such cool environments and weather. Imagine fighting on a snowy like place like the control room from halo CE. or on the beach head from halo 3 in the covenant. These would be so cool.
The first con I’m going to say is that 343 might make battle Royale their only focus. They might drop Halo 6 with battle Royale as just another mode but I could easily see them turning it into a fortnite where they drop the PVE modes and just focus on BR. That is the last thing I want for halo. Like I said before I don’t want them to drop everything for this new fad of battle Royale. If they stop doing updates on multiplayer for battle Royale I’m gonna be pissed because that’s what myself and a lot of people don’t want.
The second pro I wanna mention is vehicles. Halo has such amazing and fun vehicles. The warthog is just fantastic and who doesn’t love the scorpion. Even the new phaeton is one of the things 343 did right in halo 5. It’s a fun vehicle to use. Using these vehicles in a battle Royale would be so epic. Imagine just driving over hills and through the water on a warthog with your buddies. It would be amazing. Having aerial fights in hornets, banshees, and phaetons would be so much fun. Spectres, wraiths, ghosts, mongooses, everything would be a blast. The vehicles is one of the things I love most about halo and seeing them in an open world style battle Royale would be so cool.
Another con would be the risk that battle Royale isn’t here to stay. An issue I have with battle Royale in halo is that it might be a temporary thing. No one knows the future and battle Royale(even though it’s the big thing right now) might die off. 343 might put in a battle Royale into halo infinite and then in the next year or so it could die off and not be cool anymore. And then everyones like why the -Yoink- did they waste their time with it? If your 343 you have to think strategical for the future. This could very well be the final traditional halo game. They may do a seventh they may not. If 343 puts in a battle Royale and battle royale ends up dying off and infinite is the final halo game, then that means that infinite(being the last traditional halo game) is going to have a mode no one even -Yoinking!- cares about anymore. People might say this problem could be resolved with 343 making a seventh halo game and to that I say yes but actually no because just like halo 5 halo infinite if they -Yoink- it up won’t go away.
The third and final pro is that 343 wouldn’t have to change any of the mechanics or really anything to make a battle royale. All they have to do is make a map out of some of the levels from previous halo games, through down some weapon, vehicle, and turret spawns, give a few different modes like solo and squad, and make it so you drop in ODST style like a badass. What I’m saying is that if you were to play a battle royale in halo it wouldn’t be much different from things like firefight and mutltiplayer. Obviously the mode and -Yoink- would be different but they don’t have to make new weapons and vehicles and change up the scenery and fix this -Yoink- and that -Yoink- but they can just take all the stuff that makes halo great and put it in battle royale.
The third con I wanna point out that I don’t think a lot of people are realizing is that battle royale sort of has a…um…younger audience. And sometimes younger people can be very annoying to play video games with. Take fortnite for example. Fortnite has the most toxic community I have ever seen. And a big reason for that is because it has a younger audience. And you could say that fortnite is a target for younger players and yes but actually no. The same thing has happened to H1Z1, pubg and pretty soon apex legends. If 343 puts a battle royale I feel like it would ruin the feel of halo. There would be too many kids toxic, annoying 12 year olds. And again you could say that the halo community already has toxic players and I say toxic adults. Toxic adults are hilarious and a blast to play with because they aren’t truly trying to be a -Yoink-. Occasionally you will come across one that is but generally these adults are matured and just having a good time, at least thats how I see it. Kids ages like 7-15 aren’t mature enough to be toxic and still have a good time playing. They might not make sense but there is a reason that fortnite is boring as -Yoink- and halo is fun and it’s the community. A parent might get little Timmy this new halo game because it’s just like that fortnite “Battle royale” one he likes so much and then the entire halo community is plagued with annoying 12 year olds because there is a battle royale in it. And again you might say then just play another mode and I say how retarded are you. Obviously you can’t just play one mode in a game if there is a massive plethora of them. Yeah it might start at BR but then it will move to slayer and then infection and pretty soon you can’t play halo anymore because it’s not fun because your playing with toxic annoying little kids. Godddd. This is the worst route that a halo game can take but a very possible one. That’s all I have to say about battle royale in halo.
