Battle Royale Confirmed???

I have been navigating on twiter and I saw a post from the ComicBook NOW! It’s a rumour from the thurrot web site editor.
That said, things in development change all the time, and according to Thurrotts’ executive editor, Brad Sams – who’s built a reputation for possessing and providing Xbox and Windows 10-related scoops – the upcoming Halo entry will indeed have a battle royale experience, though it will probably come with a Halo twist on the formula.
According to Sams, the battle royale experience that 343 Industries has cooking won’t be a straight up copy and paste of what previous games have done, like Apex Legends and Fortnite, which perhaps explains how the studio has gotten away with saying it won’t have a battle royale mode. Because maybe it won’t, maybe it will just have a battle royale-esq experience. Or maybe things have changed since December, as is common with games development.

Sams notes that development of the battle royale experience is still in the early stages, so things could change, but for now, it sounds like the team at 343 Industries is indeed going to take a tackle at battle royale, however, it won’t settle on doing something we’ve already seen previous titles do."

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I would be very sad if will concretize . It will demonstrate lack of creativity and inovation for Halo series. Battle Royales are popular, but it’s already oversaturated on the market. Halo needs to get back to his roots and feel to get “evolved” again. These Triple AAA industries are too lazy and scaried to take risks and still always the same. And when I call “inovation”, I don’t mention “copy and paste” things like spartan abilities, which strongly ressembles Call of Duty Series.

I’m sure this has already been talked about on another Halo BR thread. But to sum it up 343 immediately responded for the third (third I think?) time telling people that they are not making a BR. Also, just because someone seems to be an insider or whatever, that doesn’t mean you should take everything they say as fact, especially if they have no proof but in fact have been disproven.

tbh I don’t believe him hes gotten a few things wrong in regards to halo

  1. he said the game would be split in 2 with campaign out this year 343i already denied that
  2. he basically said that it would be skipping current gen and be a next gen only title frank o connor denied that one personally
  3. frank o connor outright denied this rumor earlier tonight saying they have no plans for it at the moment
so im very skeptical to anything he says about halo

For the record, I am not a fan of BR in Halo. But to be fair, it’s anyone’s guess at this point if BR will be in Halo (for arguments sake, I will gloss over the fact that 343 has outright said there are no plans for BR).

With that in mind, I will say that Halo already has a variety of game modes that serve to split the available player base. What I mean is, a BR experience requires a large number of players to all be not just in one game mode, but in one single game at the same time. There’s just not enough players to fill a BR lobby alongside all the other game mode lobbies.

To make matters worse for BR, from what I understand, you only get one life and then you’re done. So no respawning means when you die, you gotta go back into the game lobby and wait for another 100 or so people to play again. So I just don’t see how BR would fit into Halo unless it became the sole MP mode, which is beyond unlikely.

Frankie debunked this.

Call of Duty is able to have multiplayer and Blackout at the same time. The player count would not be an issue especially at Launch.
When you die, you aren’t waiting an hour for 100 people to play. You get filled with everyone else that died along side you.
There are also modes in Blackout that allow you to respawn while still being limited, having to work together to be the last team standing.

I want Halo to have a Battle Royale. I’m also the type of person that likes to play Search & Destroy. One life per round. Makes the game more intense and really makes you think twice.

I made Battle Royal game type in Halo 2 (slayer, 1 life, pistol start, random weapons, random vehicles). To be blunt, it wasn’t that popular at lan parties.

However I am sure someone could make a Battle Royal map in Forge. The game type is easy enough. So don’t ask 343 to make you a Battle Royal mode, make it yourself!
