I love my Battle Rifle don’t get me wrong. I used it before the update and got lots of kills with that weapon. I have noticed that most of my BR vs. DMR long range duals that the Battle Rifle most of the time tops the Designated Marksman Rifle. This is only my opinion so please if you disagree do it respectfully.
I have to respectfully disagree. I, for one, am a DMR user and if your speaking of long range shots, the DMR tops BR. However, BR does top the DMR b/c it has better precision on Small and Mid sized maps, and with the DMR, you have to be much more precise, since its a single shot semi auto. BR has the advantage basically. Unfortunately, the DMR tops BR only on BTB maps, since of course the BR is not as accurate as the DMR and the 4sk knocks the crosshairs out of place. Now going back about the BR getting buffed, its shouldn’t be. It should remain the way it is.
Your losing to a DMR at long range. Thats how its meant to be.
No, it does not.
the BR is a mid to close ranged ranged weapon, its better for closing the gap between enemies, not picking off at long range…
You shouldn’t be engaging DMR’s at long range anyway, you should either
a. retreat, and make him come to YOU, you’ll have the advantage by then…
or
B. If he doesn’t give chase, go around and take him out from his blindspot…
so, basically, you shouldn’t be getting into long range duels against DMR users in the first place…
Just because it doesn’t work in a certain situation means it needs a buff, you just need to think outside the box, turn your weapons weakness into an advantage…
BRs don’t need a buff. It is a very versatile weapon that depends on positioning to be good with it.
Against Close range weapons, such as automatic weapons, you need to position yourself. away so that their damage output is lower yours. This is because at close range, an automatic’s bloom is not going to lower their accuracy due to you filling up their reticule.
Against DMRs and LRs, you need to position yourself CLOSER so that their damage output is lower than yours. Their damage output is the slowest. However, due to the close and mid range guns’ gimmicks, they end up being faster.
DMRs and LRs have a constant damage rate across all ranges and that is their weakness. BRs damage increases as they get closer. Use cover, and get up in their face and pop them off.
This is what I do, I use a BR and a DMR in one of my classes so I have an advantage at all ranges. Try that instead of asking for an unnecessary buff.
I can assure you it does not.
You should have trouble using it at range.
You need to compensate the recoil to hit targets farther away. Aim lower at their stomach and the recoil will bump up and make the shots hit their chest. By doing this you can maximize all of the bullets in the burst hitting the target at long range.
You will probably still lose fairly consistently vs. a DMR at long range but by doing this method and getting the first shot you will increase your chances at survivability. Honestly though, if they’re really far away the best thing to do is to try and close the distance until you’re close enough where you have the advantage.
If anything, it needs a nerf at how effective it is at longer range.
IMO the Halo 3 BR was perfect when it comes to range. I could barely hit someone in DMR range, like I should.
I think a few of you misread the op but yes as a DMR user I’ve ran into a few good BR user who could out shoot me at a distance. And I was indeed impressed
If the BR got any sort of “buff” it would be overpowered and 80% or so of players would use it (just a guess).
NO.
DMR and LR are the most ranged precision loadout weapons in this game, I think we don’t need a third.
> BR…vs…DMR…long range…duels…
See, now that’s the problem, you should NOT be engaging a DMR at LONG RANGE with a BR which is intended for mid-range battles…
So…
NO.

this sounds good in theory, but it depends on the situation, and weather you’re using stability or not…
If not, your probably still going to die, even if you land the first shot…
