Battle rifle sights

So why did the sights change for the battle rifle from 4 to 5. I mean the Battle rifle looks stupid with its current sight and doesn’t feel like a battle rifle.

I think the lore indicates that it is not the same battle rifle, there have been at least 3 iterations at this point, and the reqs offer different scopes for it. There is halo 2 br, br w/ longshot scope, and br w/ sentinel scope, plus the recon br.

i like it but then again i may use a different scope than you

343 decided to get real stupid this time around and made physical sights a thing. It used to be that your Spartan simply used a video feed from the weapon’s scope directly to the HUD, but now for some reason we have to aim physically through the sight/scope. And that’s not even the stupidest part. Despite the fact that holographic projection sights exist (AR, for example), some weapons have reflex sights. I guess it’s understandable that reflex sights could be cheaper…except these reflex sights have holographic projections outside of the glass as well as inside, so there’s literally no point for the glass being there because it can clearly project that image without it.

Agreed. They could have at least done a nice looking holographic sight, like those EOtech ones, but this one just looks weird and forerunner like… which doesn’t work with a human weapon.

By “feel” do you mean it doesn’t zoom in enough? Or that you don’t like actually being able to see the sight when you are ADS?

Your basically trying to look through multiple sights at once. I once was at a gun range and got to shoot a Thompson SMG, semi-auto, and I kept missing my first few shots only to figure out there were three iron sights as opposed to two. Then I hit the rest just fine.

An EOTech-like sight would be best for the BR’s blocky aesthetics, but it wouldn’t even have to be that. Just anything that doesn’t look so Covenant-y.

Agreed.

Lore wise, it’s due to it being the standard BR85 variant with a Recon Sight, compared to the BR85HB with a scope. The magnification for both is the same, as they both have a 2x zoom. By this point, there have been two base Battle Rifle models (BR55 from H2 and BR85 from H5), each with a standard and heavy barrelled variant (BR55HB from H3 and BR85HB from H4). Halo 5 just added a bunch of different scopes and sights to the gun, with the Reflex Sight, Classic Scope, Longshot Scope, and Sentinel Scope.

Outside of the universe, it’s likely because 343 wanted to make Smart Scope look more like ADS. Or something.

I like the new ones better

I thought it was to suggest the BR as the mid-range weapon in comparison to the DMR as a long range weapon.

I like the new sights, better peripheral vision while scoped in.

I like it, I just wish that maybe in Halo 6 you can toggle Smart-Scope or Classic-Scope. Maybe even toggle for certain weapons.

I don’t mind it at all; It serves it’s purpose in Arena, and in Warzone, you can customize the scope. No big deal really.

It feels quicker and there’s more peripheral. It’s what a predominantly mid range weapon should have. Leave actual scopes on the guns better suited for long range.

I want a red dot reticle sight. give me that and I will rarely ever miss headshots.

I wanna see a Projection Sight variant, for both BR and DMR.

That would make both guns horribly useless. No one would use it and 343 would have more crap to inflate the REQ system with.

I felt the same way when Halo 5 was first released, but now the BR sight has grown on me a bit.
