Battle pass weeklies too specific

The challenges are too specific. Since they are limited to only a week they shouldn’t be “Win a certain game mode” or “Get 10 kills with this weapon”. Since you can’t really control, at the moment at least, what weapons are available and what game mode you get put into. If you’re going to keep the specific challenges the requirement to complete them should be way lower. But I would prefer if it was like “Get 10 kills with a shotgun-type weapon” or “Play 5 slayer games” instead of winning them. So you at least have an easier way of getting some progression at least.

I’m mostly just frustrated about this because I had “Win 3 CTF games”. I played 43 quick play games in a row. I got a total of 2 CTF games, 1 of which I lost… This wouldn’t be a huge problem if the challenge re-rolls weren’t limited. Maybe have like a daily 2 re-rolls or something.

Other than that I really do enjoy the multiplayer game play, it’s fun. The battle-pass progression however seems like it was made by a team who has never played a game with a battle-pass, ever.

CTF seems to be low weighted in Quickplay. Especially when you consider the available map and gametype pool, then the fact it could have even lower weighting as a gametype if they aren’t equally split.

You’d find games of CTF much quicker playing BTB or ranked. If I needed Stronghold games I’d 100% play ranked.

Fair enough. My point being is that it shouldn’t be RNG if you even get placed into a game where you can do your challenge. I’m at the point of which I’m just thinking of leaving as soon as it isn’t the right game mode. Which feels kind of counter-intuitive.

I agree. Played 2 hours Big Battle to complete “play 3 full control matches”. I mean, it wasnt “win 3 full control match” just play an complete 3 of them.
But since you cant chose the type of the match, you have to start search and play what you get.
Sure, i could quit each match, but the i risk to be banned from playing. So its just boring.

Mine is win 3 total control matches, takes about 15 minutes for a BTB match, I can’t begin to count how many I’ve played this week and haven’t been placed in one.
“We don’t want this game to be a grind”
As we grind out 30+ games before we even enter the match we need.

I love when people share specific data. I’m meaning to track all the games I play next week in order to show how 343 is rigging the RNG in order to prevent us from completing challenges, but I’m glad you already did it.

Do you know what are the chances of playing 43 quick play games and only finding 2 CTF, if the RNG was fair (25% odds for CTF, 25% for Slayer, 25% for Strongholds, 25% for Oddball)?

We can use our good old friend, the Binomial Distribution, to answer that question. If m is the number of attempts (43), n is the number of successes (2) and p is the probability of success on each attempt (0.25), then

P = m! / n! / (m-n)! * p^n * (1-p)^(m-n)
P = 0.00043 (or 0.043%)

The odds of your bad streak being due to bad luck are pretty much 1 : 2350.

There are hundreds of thousands of people playing Halo Infinite right now, so it would be natural that a handful of people would have a bad streak due to pure luck. But I myself have had enough highly unlikely bad streaks to be certain that there’s something fishy going on. 343 is rigging the game against us.

I don’t believe that CTF is low weighted in quickplay. Because when I had challenges specific to strongholds, all I got was CTF, oddball and slayer. It took me hours on end to find strongholds. I’m positive that 343 is rigging the game. See post above.

Played over an hour of BTB the other night just trying to play one game of stockpile for a ‘common’ challenge of ‘play one match of stockpile’.

Frustrating.

I agree it’s possible and if it is proven (which it will be if it is happening) then it will be scandalous. No way they could think they could get away with it honestly. Did they not see what happened to Dream with Minecraft speedruns lol.

The probability is only true if all gametypes are equally weighted but I’m not sure that is the case.

That’s right, I’m assuming that all gametypes are equally weighted, which is not necessarily true. In any case, there are lots of people complaining about not getting the game type they need in order to clear a challenge, and there isn’t one single type that seems more problematic than the others. That looks very suspicious.

I suppose in quickplay there are 17 combinations, almost half (7) are slayer.

That would be odd, because I don’t feel that I’m getting slayer all that much.

Which could allude to the fact there are different weightings or that we just have a skewed perspective based on our current RNG.

Agrees. They definitely need to do better with weekly challenges, at present they end up feeling like a total grind fest for one of the few ways that free players can unlock new cosmetics.

Let me remake my calculations then. Suppose that the odds of getting slayer are 7/17. That leaves 10/17 for the odds of getting either CTF, oddball or strongholds.

I’ll guess that CTF would have 4/17 odds (since there are two variants, 2-flag and 1-flag), oddball 3/17 and strongholds 3/17.

Using those numbers, the odds of playing 43 quick play matches and finding only 2 CTF would be only slightly better: 0.00084, or 0.084%. That’s pretty much a 1 : 1200 chance of having a bad streak due to bad luck, instead of trickery.

Even if CTF’s odds are 3/17, you would have only 0.9% chances of getting that bad streak due to luck (about 1:100).

Just weighing in to resonate that I always seem to struggle to find the game modes I need.

I had an Oddball and Strongholds weekly, and I spent nearly all day trying to get into one of those game modes, but could only ever get CTF and Slayer. Another time I had a CTF weekly, and couldn’t find a CTF game. Stockpile challenge? A dry streak of that game mode.

I really does feel like it’s weighted against what you need to progress. I’ve done both the weeklies so far, and I’m starting to feel pretty burnt out. The challenge requirements need a rework, and we need an option to pick a specific gamemode in match making.

If 343 uses the work they did on Halo MCC it had much better challenges that were still challenging but less restrictive

Yea they are too specific and sucks when you get win X gametype. Got win 3 strongholds games, I’ve played 3 in 3 hours - I don’t want to just quit when I get CTF or oddball or slayer and it’s unfortunate because I probably am getting people who need pulse carbine kills or commando kills and/or just never play the objective while it feels like I’m facing teams of 4. It’s dumb, plain and simple. Add on the fact that I just won multiple strongholds games a few days ago and this idea of weekly is a joke.

Then of course if you have friends - you have to ignore them to do this stupid challenge. Have a group of more than 4 - you can’t do strongholds challenge. People should not have to pick to play with friends or complete a challenge for exp / gear. Just dumb 343. Dumb.

And then some are bugged. Had one to get a kill with sniper rifle without zooming. Got multiple no scopes with the sniper, some in fiesta, some in quick play. Even had some body shot kills instead of headshot, and nope. It won’t complete. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb 343.
