The second I heard about this progression system I hated it with a passion way before any flights or anything. Just hearing that we wouldn’t get xp from just playing the game and doing good, getting medals, etc but instead would be based purely off challenges instead of challenges just being a bonus, I was instantly furious about it. I was here at home breaking -Yoink!- throwing my controller at the TV just going all kinds of wild and bezerk(just jokes). So I just wanted to ask cause I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else ask this or it be brought up. But just why? Why would 343 go this route with the progression it just doesn’t make any sense to me especially when the MCC is right there to go off of?

Yeah when I seen they’re acted fast in response to what we were saying I was happy. But then I seen just 50 xp I swear for a second I thought they’re were just messing with us but nope. It’s ridiculous

Well…I have your frustration, but I don’t think you’ve nailed down the solution. The issue is that 343 completely eliminated the leveling system and replaced it with battle pass. They could absolutely keep the battle pass as is (although they need to boot some of the annoying challenges that force players to ignore objectives) and simply add in a player leveling system as a parallel. Right now the game literally says “+50 assist”, “+100 kill” but that xp goes nowhere. Your score at the end of the game does nothing. It could easily go towards your “level” (i.e. recruit to general).
