Battle Pass if purchasing full game?

I may be old fashioned, but I find it strange that there isn’t a full explanation of what the Battle Pass is and how it works on the Halo Infinite game page. Or maybe I’m just overlooking it?

I managed to get a Halo Series X this morning (haven’t had a chance to open it yet), so I will have the full game (digital) when it is released, and I plan to get the physical collector’s edition of the game, if I can.

Given this, do I need to buy the Battle Pass? Or will it be included with physical editions of the game?

Also, has 343 explained how often you’ll need to buy new Battle Passes? (Yes, I understand that it’s F2P and that you don’t actually “need” to buy anything for multiplayer).

I don’t mind spending money on multiplayer for cool rewards, and especially for little canonical bits of lore, but I will find it quite tiresome if you need to keep buying junk every other month. I guess I kind of want to know what I’m signing up for if I buy a Battle Pass. If there’s going to be a million Battle Passes where it will be impossible to keep up, then I won’t even bother buying one.

Congratulations on your new toy. Enjoy.

Yes. You need to buy the battlepass (if you want the rewards). I think they are aiming to have a new one each season - so four per year.

I doubt the Campaign would come with a battlepass. Especially since the second one isn’t due until May 2022.

There will be battle passes every three months it seems. Not worth buying IMO… we should be able to just pay a lump sum and get everything in a package. I thought about it, but I really can’t justify spending $500 on a console plus $60 for a game just to be asked for another $10 every 3 months.

Yeah for people buying the campaign, they’re getting shafted. It would be more consumer friendly if those who buy the campaign get at least a years worth of battlepass seasons included but we all know that will never happen. Feels like halo is just a game to sell Xbox gamepass and make whatever extra money through micro transactions.

Well it’s kinda up to how you define old-fashioned in that regard, because for me old-fashioned means, that you actually pay for the Content which you want. To be more specific, you want new maps because devs have to put extra work into it which also needs to be payed? Well than pay for the Mappacks. But nowdays it doesn’t work like that anymore, it splits the community to much and people mourn about it, not only that… this Generation is too used to get the initial product for cheap (or even for free) but get squeezed money out on every inch of the game(and i can’t even can complain about that, because i’m part of the Problem too). So stuff like this is the “solution”, that dev can still work on and deliever new stuff, get payed and companys even maximize their profit.

My personal Opinion about Battlepass itself, while i generally prefer the old days where simply payed for actual content, i find Battlepass in it’s core actually even a neat idea, it’s rather the execution/iteration which are problem. Like one major issue, which i personally even find absolutely cancerous, is the FOMO BS… you ask me to pay 10 bucks for a content, which you can take away from after a few days/month? So i get forced to play each season even if i’m not even an the mood, or god forbid IRL issues? Only that you can seel some folks your level-up MTX… otherwise it would feel like they waste money on something which they can’t even finish. Rly? Atleast in that regard 343i does a great job by getting rid of the FOMO nonsense. And that’s why i rn rather take Infinite Approach than any other BP.

The Problem we have rn, esp. due the Game isn’t even fully released yet, but rather a headstart beta, what kind off stuff we get as trade off. Let’s say as example, if we woudl get each season the right amount of new maps and stuff, i find 10 bucks actually pretty fair, however if it’s only a mere extension for unlockables than it’s kinda problematic.

Another thing which they look into rn is the overall progression, because its too slow and limited… if they (re)work in that regard it also might be helpfull and give it more value.

Yeah, that would’ve been great. However we also have to wait and see what the Campaign offers as a whole, like how much of unlockable cosmetics and how big/how much quality the Game itself offer. “Maybe” the it’s more than enough to make up, however i still would’ve hoped that people who pay full 60-70 Bucks on the Campaign might get a “advantage” over the pure free players, like idk double exp or whatever.
