Up until the launch of Infinite’s MP beta, Halo MCC has had a fairly remarkable progression system as of late. In MCC, you can unlock every single cosmetic you want in every season for free, so long as you literally just played the game. For example, I got on to grind challenges when the Orion armor released and went from 0 to 39 points in a day.
Comparing that to the first 6 hours straight of playing Infinite, and only unlocking the 4th tier of the BP, something must have obviously went wrong during the development of this game’s progression system. Challenges are actually busted, with very specific kill requirements and certain modes you have to play/win (in which, good luck with those, since this game doesn’t have a feature seen in 2007 that allowed you to FILTER THE MODES ACCORDINGLY.)
To add insult to injury, unless you want to pay for certain cosmetics via the BP or item shop, you get ZERO option for customization. A majority of the cosmetics are currently locked behind a paywall due to the aforementioned item shop. Once again, compare that to MCC, where you can unlock and customize any aspect of your Spartan.
What went wrong? We literally had a perfect system, and 343i couldn’t replicate it in their newest title. Just add a per match XP bonus if you want to be that egregious, at least then you wouldn’t have such a high risk of losing 90% of Infinite’s player retention.
