In the E3 Campaign footage we were told the Master Chief was on Sanghelios due to his discarded assault rifle. Anyone have any idea what prompted the change with the way the story went? I am curious.
E3 builds are always changed from final game footage to showcase gameplay features. Halo 4 had segments not in Infinity, and Reach’s Long Night of Solace was radically different from the final mission.
I think that they added the Chief elements to the E3 demo to drive home the idea of Locke hunting John.
If they showed what we have in the final game at E3, there would have been so many story spoilers.
The Sprint showed the E3 demo as explicitly being made to be an E3 demo.
Well firstly no matter what, it is a earlier build. No matter what, changes happen.
Its entirely possible that this Demo was scripted to build hype(which I can see)
Ok now if we were to assume the E3 Demo was originally 100% part of the story. Story element wise. The only major story changes arnt huge from the full release. Just the Master Chief got on the Guardian on Meridian instead of Sunion as E3 showed.
Merdian was always part of the story though. With a competition thing in about 2013-2014(thats not hunt the signal) having the winners get a tour round 343i’s headquarters. And them designing armor for the game(thats where ultimately Hellcat armor came from for those unaware). How Meridian ties into that competition though is the winners of that comp got to become characters in the game. Becoming Deglassers for some colony. You can read more about it in the link below.

What part Meridian would of played in Halo 5 originally I do not know. But the fact it was in the story in 2014 means that yea this was already in the story way before the E3 Demo.
Maybe Blue Team originally didnt get on the Guardian due to Locke on Meridian. And Blue Team had to escape still keeping in line with the story we got almost. Meaning we wouldnt of gotten that mission on Genesis so early.
Just Locke is forced to go to Sanghelios to chase him down.(actually giving a full on hunt)
Or maybe Meridian and Sunion swapped places.(though I kinda am against this as 343i always said that the E3 Demo was about mid game.)
But all that is speculation.
But regardless the story stayed pretty much consistant. With just small changes here and there to suit other stuff. Like
A) No Thorne(the earliest known change to the story of Halo 5)
B) To suit season 2 of hunt the truth.(thats the big one, seeing as it kinda made out Master Chief go missing on Meridian, this might of promoted the change in Halo 5)
C) Any details Escalations and the books this year added.
D) Stuff we may never know.
So with all that. I will let you lot decide what to think. Thats my look over this.
I’m wondering, does WE’s title of ‘Keeper of the Domain and her secrets’ apply to anything but the demo? It switches from that to ‘I stand in service to Cortana’ in-game.
There is concept art in halo 5’s loading screen showing an entirely different Sanghelios arc, with chief on Sunaion, Vadam Keep, State and the interior of Kolaar Mountain were supposed to appear along with another location and chief fighting on the ruins of Nuursa. The cover art of the game even depicts a scene that eill most probably happen in halo 6.
