Okay, I know i’m not the only one that’s joined in a match of warzone on the map “Battle of Noctus” and had to fight a one way battle for 20 minutes straight. The past three games now have been the same way.
I Join.
We’re pushed to North Garage
Spawn-camped for 20 minutes straight.
Players don’t even try and cap the NG they just farm kills and drag it on forever, Now you may be thinking…
Why not just spawn a hannibal tank or a Ult Banshee or something insane and overtake them. Yeah good point random reader but It’s hard to do when there’s two players sitting on top of the vehicle spawn at NG and waiting for a tank or something to come out to hijack and blow up. “But wait Banshee’s don’t come out of that!” No they don’t but They’re useless when there’s a phaeton or two more banshees waiting with support from the ground.
Conclusion on my side of things. I believe that we need a map vote system or maybe idk a “I want to play this map today Lets only get games with this map instead of all the others” Similar to CSGO’s Competitive map roster thingy.
This map has actually triggered me to the point I Uninstalled the game and immediately started Reinstalling because the installation process is more pain and I’ve always wanted more pain.
Noctus has been one of my favorite maps for a while, and I’ll admit it’s a bit one sided. However once I start getting spawncanoed in our garage, I spawn in at our base, then call in a Plasma Pistol and active camo II. No joke, one time I destroyed three scorpions (one of which was Hannibal) and hijacked a phaeton. Also, you can spawn at your base and call in a sniper. Use the mancannons to jump to the top of one of the pillars just outside your base and snipe.
Noctus is not a good map for Scorpion, too much cover for boarders. Leave the Scorpions alone, call in a Wraith. That being said banshees are excellent in the map due to its high ceiling and all bases have a hole in the roof to rain fuel rod from.
Last thing, sniping is crucial when your team is on the offense. Noctus has at least four sniping spots that I suspect were not intended to exist.
If you want to add me I’m always looking for someone to play some Halo with as I hate solo queuing. I can point out those spots but it’s kinda hard to describe.
I think the map is quite great but I will add…I threw out the idea for social playlist only there needs to be a “options menu” that lets you pick between maps, game types, JIP on/off,and other player characteristics to allow players to play particular maps or games they like. Sure the more specific your choices the longer your match making times maybe but at least you would get the games and maps you want.
I agree that we should go back to the Golden Days of Halo and be able to vote on map and gamemode.
I think the problem with Noctus is it’s lack of cover. There are wide open stretches with little to no cover, making it a paradise for snipers and vehicles. Personally, I think Skirmish at Darkstar is the best and most fluid Warzone map. It provides for vehicles, snipers, CQB weapons, etc.
Noctus was awesome before the boss refresh. The new boss timing and locations make Noctus a very unfriendly solo player map.
Before the refresh, if your team could hold the monument, it didn’t matter if the other team held both garages, you still had a much better chance of winning. This made the battle for the monument last the entire game, with constant large waves coming in from both sides, while small ninja crews battled over the garages.
Now one team gets the monument almost instantly most games, and then spawn traps the other team. The team being spawn camped can’t even leave their base because the Mantis bosses are so powerful that most people just ignore them for the first 5 minutes their up, so they just blow away anyone trying to spawn at home base and flank.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the boss refresh was a great idea, but the way it was implemented made it much harder for solo players and small parties to effectively add to their teams effort, across pretty much all the maps.
Battle of Noctus, really any Warzone map, is almost 99% lost if your team doesn’t get the middle base in the opening moments. You can tell me otherwise, but from my experience, once that middle base is captured by the enemy team, not only is it an uphill battle to regain control, but about 3-4 teammates will drop out, leaving you severely short handed for any type of offensive.
Did you quit the other two games? I’m only seeing one recent game on Noctus and it was somewhat close in score although the other team had someone who racked up kills. The next one was a month ago and they cored you in a little over 4 minutes. Just wondering.
I was never a fan of that map though. It’s too open with not enough cover and the boss locations were not the best, but not much you can do given that map is basically just a circle.
None of the warzone maps are especially great if I’m honest but Noctus in my opinion is one of the better ones. That said the Mantis bosses need less health and higher regen time to make it easier to push the monument if you don’t capture it first.
I just wish there was a city map that felt more like a city, instead of gigantic one-room tents scattered across a field of concrete.
Honestly, I wish the buildings were more numerous/complex/tight-knit. As it is, you’re either in a vehicle, or using one of three man-cannons. Even when you’re winning, that map is kinda boring.

Like new alexandria from reach
I totally disagree with you, battle of noctus is my favourite map and I think that maybe you don’t know how to play in a situation like the one that you described.
First of all you should always spawn your veichles in the main base in order to avoid getting boarded just out of the garage. In addition you will have a better angle on the garage from the core base in Battle of Noctus, especially if you use a tank.
Second, if enemies have a lot of veichles on the ground you should req a spartan laser, arclight, hydra or a plasma pistol to take them out (also in this case you should spawn at home base to avoid getting instant killed).
Third, in my opinion this is a problem of your team, because a situation like yours can happen in other maps and not only in battle of noctus. It is not a problem of the map but of the players: maybe you end up matching against full teams or your teammates are simply bad.
In conclusion I think that we shouldn’t have a vote sistem for maps, because players will end up voting everytime the same maps that they like. Whereas other maps will never be played.
