Terribly sorry if this isn’t worth making a thread about…
But I’ve read something interesting (and terrifying) on Halopedian regarding an event in Halo: Silentium with slipspace anomalies.
> The Forerunner forces realized they could not access slipspace; several ships tried and were lost, with three of them echoing from failed transits with significant causal anomalies while others were plunged into deficient alternate realities.
What would specifically happen in this scenario? Would those who experienced dimensional/reality breach appear as mirrored images?
The Forerunners used multiple different dimensions, including slipspace. They seemed to drain power from these dimensions for various reasons.
One was called The Glow, I believe, a dimension made up entirely of photons. Another is the Natal Void… we don’t know what that one has. Shunspace… unknown purpose.
I’m not quite sure what would happen if a being or even a ship happened to be plopped into one of these, but my immediate guess would be that they wouldn’t survive. Slipspace is a special dimension, and even that has massive amounts of deadly radiation.
Who knows? Could be painful. Perhaps it does some crazy thing to them, like mirror images, and they go insane. Kind of depends which realm they get thrown into.
And yeah… this is terrifying. Not only can the Precursors restrict access to slipspace, but they can make your slipspace drive send you to other realms?
I wonder if this accounts for the UNSC’s issues with slipspace anomalies where ships will just disappear entirely in slipapce.
Long before the Escalation Saga happened, I speculated that Spirit of Fire might have been close to if not surrounded by an anomalous field wherever it is at…

What does the Spirit of Fire have to do with this? It didnot even have an FTL drive to begin with…
Forerunner can access alternate universes in some aspect. As the Librarian notes that they abort natal universe to draw power. Forerunner FTL only travels through 11 higher dimensions within this reality. But Precursor ftl seems to “shed” alternate realities after return to realspace. So I don’t think its clear at all.
> The Falchion is informed of a high density of enemy vessels arriving through neural physics transmission. They materialize slowly, characteristic of Precursor transit, shedding multiverse residues at a rate that makes them temporarily vulnerable to the Falchion’s immediate response.

Also, pretty clear that he meant to say that the Damaged ships had been caught in other universes.
> “More alarming, we cannot open slipspace portals; three of our ships have ‘echoed’ from attempted transits and show powerful causality mutations. Some clearly were caught between our continuum and incomplete, inefficient universes. Status of their crews and ancillas is unknown, but communication has ceased.
