Batman v Superman and Halo 5

It’s important to note that I havnt seen Batman v Superman, I am just going off of the reviews of the movie so please correct me if I’m wrong on a few points

The criticisms I’m hearing from BvS sound quite familiar with the ones in Halo 5. An advertised glatiator match between two powerful main characters, only to not culminate in the actual film. In fact, there is only ONE scene in BvS (again correct me if I’m wrong) that doesn’t feel rewarding and didn’t really have to happen. A chunk through the movie, they discover a true threat, and team up against that threat. But that threat kinda comes off as weird to some who have seen it.

The other main criticism that sounds familiar is there are just too many moving parts in the film and making it more of a set up than its own stand alone film.

Just thought this was an interesting thought to have given there are a lot of individuals who have seen the film and their feedback reminded me of H5. I’m also looking forward to hear from those who have seen it on here to clear some things up and if they feel the same.

Never seen it either, but those are some interesting parallels you’re drawing.

I’ll let you know after I see it later today. :stuck_out_tongue:

There is a decent fight scene between the two in the movie, some of the points you made here are true but I also feels that your post also represents one of the parallels between the two. I have talked to a few people who haven’t played H5 but criticize it’s story (or say they aren’t really interested in the game) because of what they have heard about the story from other people, then as I describe what I like about the story they say, oh that sounds kinda cool. I think sometimes people are too quick to listen to other reviews and not be willing to give something a try. Was the movie (or the game) the best story ever, no. However, I found both entertaining and worth the respective amount of money that I spent on them for the hours of entertainment I received in return. I never felt the need to return the game or walk out of the theater and both had some enjoyable moments of fun and entertainment.

I loved the film, I thought it stands on its own well and all of the characters are amazing, the advertisement of the movie was not misleading and is now a personal favorite of mine

Versus matches suck… Trufax…

A movie based on comic book characters having some of the same problems as a sci-fi video game with a lead writer whose experience comes from writing comic books? I am shocked.

Lol alrighty

I saw the movie, but i felt the fight in that was a bit more satisfying. There was a bit more build up if you will. In halo 5 it just feels like things happen.

“Chief is gone, get em Locke.” “Yes ma’am.”

“Chief needs help, help em Locke.” “Yes ma’am.”

“Cortana is crazy, stop her Locke.” “Yes ma’am.”

There was far more potential to Halo 5’s story. It had a chance to delve into what makes a Spartan a ‘Spartan’ or to question who was really right. Locke had an opportunity to be a different refreshing character than the Chief (just saying, I love the Chief, but Locke could’ve been a great contrast.)
The trailers showcased Locke as a cocky, mysterious Hunter, alright sounds pretty badass. Then Nightfall portrays him as this skilled soldier with a moral compass. Still cool, maybe some clash between him and ONI. But none of that happened. We got stuck with a loyal lapdog trying to fill the Chief’s shoes while the game didn’t spend enough time with the Chief.

At least in Batman V Superman, there was build up, there was tension, it was palpable. The fight was a great exploration of kryptonite and some physical back and forth ending with a slight bond between the two. It felt satisfying (in my opinion.) The background was given and the conclusion felt reasonable.
Plus Ben Affleck did one hell of a Batman in my opinion, and Wonder Woman was cool too.

Just my two cents.

Well, Locke and Batman both kill -Yoinks!- :stuck_out_tongue:

Saw it yesterday.

When Superman and Batman fought, it was like Locke Vs. Chief. But then here comes Doomsday, and that reminded me of the Guardian that is threatening the world and the universe.

Great post. Makes me want to revisit the campaign to be honest.

Haven’t seen it yet, I will on Tuesday. But from the trailers we already knew they would team up to fight a common threat. But for Halo 5 we didn’t know that Cortana would be back as the villian…

Youre dead wrong. Batman and superman definitely fight in the movie, sure it isnt the center piece of the movie and isnt the climactic battle because superman and batman have to team up to fight doomsday but the fight is a lengthy and intense scene not a 30 second clip that makes no sense.

Thanks, I am replaying it now for achievements, and the more I re-visit it and think about it, the more I like it.

I just got back from seeing it and the movie is epic. The fight is satisfying IMO. There was a great build up. In Halo 5 it’s different. Not much build up and the fight was more of a tussle.

Just saw the movie. It has nothing to do with the marketing, since we got what we saw from the trailers. There was definitely a lengthy fight between the two (the fight scenes are all awesome), and Ben Affleck was a great Batman. Unlike many, though, I didn’t mind Doomsday all that much. My main gripe was that the film felt too incoherent; the plot was all over the place with hardly anything tying them together.

That’s actually a pretty great analogy. Another comparable occurrence is the Star Wars prequels- just like 343’s Halo, they were quite poorly received due to modern stylistic changes and controversy over lacking the core ‘feel’ of the franchise.

Dang nab it, I haven’t seen the movie yet, am avoiding spoilers, and BvS is discussed here? NO WHERE TO RUN!!! AAARG!
