I had this game for the 360, withno xbox live. And every time you completed a campaign mission on legendary you would get around 2000-4000CR.
Now that I play this on my xbox one, with xbox live I only get 800-1000Cr on missions.
Campaign is not the fastest way to get Credits anymore. It’s true that you used to get a lots of credits in it, but not anymore.
You only get those ammounts of credits if you complete three or four commendations during a mission.
I’d recommend griffball for credits, even if it is annoying.
Or then go play living dead (which I enjoy mostly).

Difficulty don’t even seem to increase Cr, custom or matchmaking campaign… it’s rather time based…
But earning 10 000 Cr in one game would take more than 2 hours in coop campaign (matchmaking) .
Firefight is somewhat a safer but slower option than Grifball in case you don’t want to play against a team that spawn kill you.
The best games can give you more than 6000, my best reward, with all other bonuses was beyond 12 000.
Yeah what is up with credits now? lol. In 2011 I would simply AFK in a campaign mission, come back 2 hours later and BOOM 7000+ credits. I wonder why they changed that?
Now I would recommend Score Attack in Matchmaking. Its a single player game mode so you don’t need other players. You still get credits like you would from any other Matchmaking game. I frequently get the 3000 bonus credit jack pot from Score Attack. You should too as long as you consistently complete your games to the finish.
Normal FF works too, I often (almost) manage to have the highest score without deaths, even when the input lag is heavy, a lot of kills = slightly more points.
EDIT : you have a fair chance to find someone.
