I know I keep posting a lot about advice, but I really need it. I have absolutely no accuracy and have approximately 1200 more deaths than kills in arena. I really want a positive kda as fast as I can. I am at rank 60 in the game, which I feel I should have a good kda by this point. All I want is a positive kda and have good accuracy with weapons, especially snipers. I just want to be an extremely skilled player with the game when I get past rank 100, and be as skilled as some halo 5 youtubers like iSpiteful and Eagle Precursor. That is my primary goal for the game, to be great.
For a start, make sure that your aim sensitivity is low. I have mine on 3 or 4 and that’s worked wonders. You should be trying to place yourself in an ideal position to fight an enemy, rather than expecting to react to an enemy somewhere else by quickly spinning to deal with them, by which point they’ve already started hitting you. I can’t really give more advice without any knowledge of how you play.
Oh and for sniper practise, play Warzone.
Don’t worry too much about kdr.
What i found that helped me improve my kda in Halo 4 was playing flood. If you are a survivor, you can get a couple kills per death. I haven’t tried it much in Halo 5, but that might help you raise your kdr a little at a time.
As for improving sniper?..Play custom games with a friend, that way, you can practice on a player instead of an alien npc.
Good luck!
Have you tried watching some of BBKDRAGOON’s tip videos on YouTube? I was pretty bad at the game for a while, following some of them helped me a bit (I think).
One thing you can do is watch full games of good players play (no montages, can’t learn from those). This mostly shows you map routes or positions you can utilize yourself. Notice if they are playing with a party. Or if they stay near their allies. When do they retreat, when do they attack, stuff like that. Sometimes they do commentary, explaining why they do what they do. I don’t have any suggestions for this cuz I barely watch such vids for Halo, but it can help.
I don’t remember being terrible at Halo only cuz I’ve played every game since CE

I don’t know but I think that advice might be getting over used I for instance can’t even shoot with those recommended setting cause the reticle just doesn’t move quick enough.
Lowest I can go is 5 horizontal 3 vertical
Rank: Rank 60 really isn’t that high relatively. Pros and such are pretty much all 140+, then double that time for scrims in custom games
Lower your sense, grind octagon, consciously keep your goal in mind. Don’t change your sense after 1 bad game

That’s how the pros play, and I can confirm with firsthand experience that it simply works.

Well I don’t understand cause if I set it to what the pros do my reticle doesn’t move quick enough to keep up with a strafe.

I figured out your issue. You have to go back and beat the campaign on legendary solo, and not just Halo 5, but all of them. I promise you that your skill will improve tenfold. You really can’t just jump into a Halo multiplayer game and be good, you have to get your skills from the Campaigns. Halo 5 is the fastest moving Halo to date, but you walk before you can run. The campaigns on legendary will have you pulling your hair out but it will make you better. I see you played them all on easy, go back man and do them on legendary.

That will build up the foundational skills, but it’s still not like playing against human players… it takes a good bit of play time to understand how players will move around the map and how they will approach and engage you.
You our have to predict enemy strategies on the fly a lot of times, when and from where they will push on your location and create favorable angles and positions for yourself, all while effectively utilizing the best “tools” for the job in that situation.
Campaign AI, at the end of the day are basically just bullet sponges… They may be harder to kill on higher difficulties, but it’s nothing like playing a skilled player with a good shot, strafe, and one that “plays their life” effectively and creates favorable situations for themselves.
You need to work on your fundamentals. Aiming, map awareness, and movement.
Work on your aiming by putting in the time, its like any other skill. The best place is in Team Arena, Slayer, or FFA. Play as many games as you can, and constantly focus on improving your aim; over time it will get better. Its all about muscle memory, and coordination.
Map awareness is key. You should have a mental image of where everyone is on the map at all times, you may not always be 100% right, but having this mental map is very important. This comes down to your knowledge of things like spawns, map positioning/setups, and timing weapons/powerups. Go into Forge and look at the spawns in each map/gametype; find the initial points, find the respawn points, and learn them. Go into theater and watch where enemies spawn, watch where their teammates are standing, this will give you a huge advantage over players without this knowledge. Instead of running around looking for guys, you’ll know where to expect them. You’ll be ready for them, you can nade them from far away, or have your pistol out to see them running around a corner. Most importantly your mental map will be more accurate.
Movement is like aiming, its muscle memory and coordination. Practice, time, and focus is how you’ll raise this trait. Stick to the competitive playlists like Team Arena, Slayer, and FFA. Learn how to move around the map quickly, and DON’T TAKE THE OBVIOUS ROUTES EVERY TIME! Its worth it to take a little detour sometimes. In higher ranked games running through the middle of the map won’t work for example. Learn the movement combo’s like “flying”, learn not to waste your thrusts, learn the thrust jumps in maps (Regret and Truth have a TON), learn the fastest flag routes so you can predict enemy’s better, and things like that.
After that its polish. You just keep playing and improve on anything you can.
Edit: Since this post got a little love let me also mention that Halo is a team game (unless you’re playing FFA
) so paying attention to your teammates is also key. You can absolutely melt guys with team shots in less than a second of accurate fire. So being aware of your teams positioning is huge also. If you’re having trouble getting kills, maybe its not such a great idea to keep trying to flank on your own; this is just an example. Try running with your teammates and making plays off of them. You don’t always have to be looking the same direction as them, but if you’re near a teammate and hear him shooting a guy, pop out of cover as your teammate hides and clean up his kill; again, this is just one example, and very common in Onyx/Champ games. Don’t bait your teammates constantly, but learn to make plays with/off them. Don’t run off alone and get killed endlessly, stick with a teammate and push together.

Add me and let’s party up sometime. I’m bad too but we can get better together and I am looking for people to consistently play with

I was thinking its maybe muscle memory or heavy aim. I don’t really know.
When the aim wasn’t working like normal I would change my aim up/down to fix it and it was working. I did used to use Default 4 but at some point I could no longer hit any thing so I changed it to 10 vertically and 5 horizontal and it started working again. Over time I’ve been changing it constantly when ever the aim starts to behave differently.
Cobra: You should go back and play the game on Legendary. That’ll improve your game. Nothing like being killed by swarms of AI’s to improve yourself.
I play on level 2 sensitivity. When I’ve raised it up to level 3, my shots are off… If you’re wanting someone to play some custom games with, to give you a live target to fire at, hit me up. I’ll play with you. I’m central standard time.

Hey. Stop spectating me, -Yoink!-!
I don’t actually do this. I’m just bad in other ways.
Even that was extra bad for me. I don’t know what was going on there.

Curious… Do you play any other shooters?
