Banshees, Wasps, & Phaetons Warzone FF

I love driving, but I prefer flying!

I like the Wasp because I find it easy to manoeuvre, after all, it’s vertical take off and landing. However, I reckon it doesn’t do so much damage to the enemy and increasingly becomes less effective in the higher rounds. I only have the level 4 Wasp unlocked.

Banshees can fly faster, but can’t hover on the same spot, making them (in my case) harder to manoeuvre. an advantage of the banshee over the wasp is that it can be used to splatter enemies [ there is a post about Enemies You Can’t Run over with a Vehicle].

Unfortunately I don’t usually last in a banshee. Any tips on how to use banshees?

I’ve only really used a phaeton once, so i don’t have an opinion on them. I still don’t have them unlocked in my REQ system.

The moment you start to take too much fire from the ground forces, disengage and boost out of the combat area. Once you are clear and are no longer being shot at, that is when you turn around and enter the fight again. A sort of rinse and repeat process. You don’t want to stay in the area, especially in the later rounds when the Covenant/Prometheans will tear through your Banshee as though it was made of paper.

The same goes for enemy Banshee’s and Phaetons. In the later rounds, never try to go toe-to-toe with one. Most of the time you will just end up dying. Coordinating with your team and taking them down together is the best way.

Wasp basic is just about useless in either Legendary or Mythic.

I’ll try that next time.
My main problem is that I end up getting stuck especially in those maps where the big bosses are inside or I fly too close to splatter non-bosses and end up being splattered!

As much as I enjoy flying it, I wholehearted agree with you, especially from round 4 upwards.

I’m still trying after all these years to figure out how to make the Hannibal Wasp work for me other than dive bomb with faith marksmanship or lob the four plasma bombs using inshallah as my way of aiming.

I flew the Hannibal wasp once, from a random vehicle REQ, and had absolutely no idea what to do with it! its bombing & shooting were different from the basic wasp!
It wasn’t long before I was shut down from the sky unceremoniously

honestly, my savage and brutal opinion. Stop playing the splatter spree game style. It doesnt award you bonus points, you dont get splatter badges or medals. You gain nothing above and beyond the same kills that guns give.

What you stand to lose though is:

  • killing teammates and potentially getting yourself betray kicked (and losing the reqs you used for zero return) - getting killed in general, ai’s can happily snipe you at extreme rangebut if you are dragging along the floor towards them they do not even have to lead, they look at you, shoot and hit you 100%. - provided you manage to not get KO’d on the nose drag into the target boss and you then sit there pushing against it, that is time that you are actively blocking the rest of the team from hitting the target. You may think your vehicle is unbelievably amazing, but its not equal to the 7 other players trying tto hit the boss. I have seen round 5’s fail because people faceplanting banshees onto warden eternals blocking teammate shots. Its REALLY lame. How to fly a banshee, fly out to a good range turn in fire fuel rod immediately switch to plasma guns fire them for 2ish seconds then switch to fuel rod and fire then back to plasma guns, turn away when about 50 meters from the boss boost climb and turn then repeat the attack run. if using the ultra switching weps is pointless, just spam the fuel rod untill about 50 out, turn boost and climb away. No one dies, no one has their shots spoiled, and you become far less likely to be killed. Though as for the wasp, against those red knight bosses ducking out of cover firing a gun and missile burst then diving back to cover is surprisingly effective. the wasps ability to hover is its strength and its pretty small so you can pack it into some tight spots. On Apex 7 that central spire building I get a wasp into the back of that building then duck inn and out to attack the red knights in round 5, they try to return fire but it just keeps hitting the building and not me

Thanks for the tips. I agree with you on all points.
I never attempt to splatter bosses, based on the reasons you’ve mentioned.
I will try not to be tempted when I see a bunch of grunts & elites (or crawlers & soldiers) on onespot inviting me to splatter them. they are usually the ones that end up killing me.

What do you do if you have a banshee for a round 5 with enemies indoors ((e.g. Stormbreak with hunters) and there is no room to really fly?

curl up in a ball and weep inside, pretty much. I never try to use flying vehicles indoors except veeery rarely if i had a wasp or the unbelievably rare phaeton and just didnt want to abandon them. Banshees indoors are almost useless you cant see anything half the time due to view clipping roofs and anything going off in there like hunter blasts or wardens is going to cause damage because of the tight space and extremely short engagement ranges. Its a very common thing, in my experience at least not sure for others, to see players fly into bases with banshees and be killed almost immediately, then the banshee bits get in the way of shot making anyway lol. Its a massive bummer when you pull a vehicle in round 4, get a nice flyer then get indoor bosses for round 5.

Partly why generally up to round 4 I use loadouts and power weapons then wait to see what the round 5 is for that specific map. Theres quite a few round 5s where a good flyer is boss and i’ll be standing at the req station ready to grab one immediately should the game roll the boss wave in question
