Banshee Spam

Why is this still a thing. Banshees are still a broken unit in numbers. Anything vehicle or air just gets shredded by them and it’s kind of hard to fight 20-30 of them with anti air that dies almost instantly. Please 343, nerf the plasma torpedo so at least other air units can do something to them.

I want to quote Luke Skywalker, but at the same time I don’t because the movie that the quote hails from is so bad. I’m sure you get the idea though.

Aren’t you talking about obi wan?

Eventually we’ll get to a point where every waypoint thread is just, “Come on guys, air really is OP, seriously!” For the millionth time, air is trash if you apply virtually any amount of pressure on your opponent.

Reaver:“They dare attack me from the air?! (Roar)”

Nope

In 1v1, air is in an adequate state. It is week on tight maps and very good on open maps like Vault. Knowing when and where to go air units is what makes this a strategy game. But I would not say air is over powered. It has its use just like any other unit. And I’m pretty sure hornets beat banshees.

If you are more specific about the situation that you were in, I can help you try to figure out the point you went wrong, but just saying AIR IS OP, really wont help you a lot.

Literally any leader power beyond T1 powers (with the exception of glassing beam) will squish banshees
Reavers and Wolverines, and the current CT marines also smash these bad boys (Johnson bunkers lmao)

Hell, even mantis swarms, Hunter Captain, super units, and AA turrets usually do well if they can’t counter quickly

Super Units lose to air…

alone? sure, but who deploys JUST a scarab or JUST a Condor?

Super units literally instantly die to air, and then you’re down 40 pop, 2000 supplies, and 2000 energy and however much time it took to build and move its fat -Yoink- over to the battle.

Meanwhile you could have just made 10 reavers/wolverines.

They have to produce lots of supplies to keep an army that big all the time. Go to the enemy base and blow up the supply pads.

I had an army of Hunters, Rangers, Reavers, I think 2-3 Wraiths, Banshees, and Engineers w/ Pavium in the mix. Some guy came at me with only Banshees, Engineers, and Chosen and my army was gone with his barely taking that much of a hit.

My AA turrets did jack -Yoink- and I was playing as Pavium so I only had RoF and the Lich to take on the air and RoF gives a nice little notification for you to run so even at T3, Banshees can easily -Yoink- out like a Hunter in Destiny. I also don’t have Johnson or Colony.

I recommend sending in a scout and once you see its a mass air, assemble grunts to take him down!! If you can buy a mini base behind him and get some anti building units you will have the advantage. Look to get favorable exchanges. Don’t just get your guys killed. Attack his air and retreat if his leader or turrets are causing massive casualites. If you see him double pumping banshees buy his forward base and let your pavium protect it with his heal beam. You have to supress his expansion any way you can. Mass banshees is expensive.

I mean… I don’t know what you expected the hunters, rangers and wraiths to do, but if the other guy is massing air, you should have at least 8-10 leveled reavers to fight it.

He hadn’t attacked me yet nor did he have any units outside of his base when I scouted it. How am I supposed to prepare for an air assault when I don’t know it’s coming?

did you check which buildings they had? If they had an air pad it may have been a clue. Obviously if you see more than that it is hard to figure out though.

I’m confused - you just say you scouted it? If you scouted his base - you should have seen he had airpad/summits?

Have found a banshee fleet can be useful, but only as a support group. Going truly on the offensive with them does not work well as they can die rather easily.

Perhaps they destroyed a pad to build a air pad after he scouted. I have done that as a useful tactic to confuse scouts.
