Three times already, I’ve tried to perform the dodge action on a banshee and have had zero response from the game. I kept pressing the left bumper and turning to one side and nothing happened, then it came back again.
I’ve lost a couple of brand new banshees to this. It’s very frustrating. It just went ahead into the enemy and got me killed.
Almost as I get them, they don’t respond. What is this? A bug? A feature? A mistake on my end?
It’s a brand new controller and every other game seems to register the button correctly.
If you hit the vertical limit of the map, you will be unable to perform rolls and flips with the Banshee. Fly a bit lower to prevent it from happening.

Yes, this is true, but if you try this at a lower elevation with no effect, then you may have issues with your controller.
Not sure but if you’re out of boost I don’t think you can do the stunts in air but that could have just been in older games
You’re flying too high, same thing kept happening.
This is a consistent problem with Halo’s to my knowledge. What I’ve come to discover is that each game at random points needs you to be at a certain speed to us tricks. Halo 2 and 4 we’re the most consistent if you ask me with Reach and 5 being the “Nah, I don’t feel like dodging” games when it comes to the banshee.
Button mash. Just button mash. That should fix your problem.
Well, I’m not sure I’ve always been at the highest level in the game, but it is a possibility. I’ll keep that in mind the next time.
And as to the button mashing, I was doing that already, very vigorously! Still didn’t work.
The controller (and the console) are brand new. They’re from the new Xbox One S version and have had them for a month or so. They’re fine.
But thanks for the replies!

I get the same intermittent problem all the time and its not because I’m too high in the map. Not sure what it is really, but it can be frustrating at times when you’re trying to evade. I know I’m pressing the buttons down all the way.

I have had this problem before. Normal flight level, not anywhere near the top of the map. For a little I thought it was because maybe I was out of boost or I had just fired a bomb, but then it started happening when I was just flying normally. I think it is just one of the many bugs of the game, same as rocket or fuel rod shots not exploding on impact or grenades not being thrown or not exploding.

Can we make the sky limit higher… please, I want to be able to do Air-battles without having to crash into a tree or something. Like, let us fly above the map, they’re for the air, so why not keep them for the air, instead of all that low flying we do that makes us so vulnerable to enemy attacks…
This is even more annoying with phaetons. Especially on sanctum.
