the banshee has been nerfed, the evading actions take much longer to perform, the boost is shoorter and the bombs splash damage is much much smaller and weaker, at one point in the video he just misses a guy with the bomb and it doesn’t kill him.
this is great to see, we really don’t want a repeat of the reach banshee, also, that map actually looks pretty decent.
It was great news, the beam rifle looks pretty boss as well.
True.
When you back flip it dips before flipping. Plus everything you said.
I still think that in the hands of a skillful pilot they’ll be able to do some damage.

isnt this all positive. the banshee was way to powerful in halo reach. and Im kind of glad they balanced it in halo 4

and against skilled opponents not as much damage, it won’t create complete lockouts as we saw in reach, it looks closer to halo 3 in terms of balance.

I knew a Reach style Banshee could be balanced, some people just never listen to me. =/

they wouldn’t listen because the reach style wasn’t balanced hence to them prooving it can’t be balanced because it isn’t balanced, now it is balanced, or, at least looks balanced, it could be too weak but thats something we have to wait and see for.
If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure that Warthog got destroyed and blew up, but the gunner was still alive, and still shooting, with the Guass cannon on the Warthog.

I meant that people just jumped to conclusions that if it looks like the Reach Banshee, which it does, then it must function exactly like the Reach Banshee, and, therefore cannot be balanced. Some people, I swear.

which is fine, its vehicle on vehicle, the bomb vs infanty looks a lot weaker and is much harder to evade with which is a big +, it doesn’t look like the bomb will completely destroy vehicles in one hit either or take out all the occupance.
the balancing on the banshee looks closer to halo 3, the health system how ever looks identicle to reach but hey, the halo 3 banshee was to reseliant to damage, give it the reach health system and its fine, which is what it looks like in the video.
The way it dips after flipping is a nice addition.

The map is looking great and Im really glad to see the banshee working as it should.
I’ll be the first person to complain about the Banshee in Reach, but I think they’re taking too much of a step back in 4. The flipping speed seems to be as useless as it was in Halo 3 (and in that video there’s a delay from moving after he finishes a flip). The speed of the flip was great in Reach, the problem was that it didn’t take away from the Boost meter. Doing something like a flip reduces the boost meter by half could have balanced it. The pilot will need to know when to flip or when to boost away, not just have the flip button on autofire.
As for the bomb, I’ve been saying for a while that making it only useable while locked on, ie. only against vehicles, could have balanced it quite well.
The changes for 4 seem to be taking a step back towards 3, which means the majority of players will be using the Banshee the same way they did in 3. By boosting into the ground to splatter everybody.
I am now at peace, knowing that it takes some amount of skill to pilot a banshee again.
The banshee in Reach was made of paper. 4 shots from a sniper shouldn’t kill a banshee, the vehicles aren’t overpowered. Why? Because they’re -Yoink!- vehicles.
Honestly I hated the Reach banshee because of the op bombs and the rediculous acrobatic ability. with the new gameplay I saw how a bomb hit a warthog in the engine and the warthog was just smoking and the drivers shields went to about half. It didn’t utterly wreck the hog and its driver like it would in Reach. The only balance to the thing in Reach was that it was made of something weak like paper mache… or Raditz (TFS) But in invasion if a spartan took the banshee most covie weapons were useless against thier own aerial vehicle plus most people flew the thing like their barrel roll agenda was 15 years behind its quota so most of the time PP overcharges couldn’t hit the thing.
