BANNING!

I was reading the news about Halo 5’s multiplayer feature and apparently they can ban you from multiplayer if you when they detect and track a variety of misbehavior, betrayals, intentional suicides and quitting. Why would they do that? I understand that they want to partner certain people with others that have the same, or better kinds of skills and talents, but this is stupid.

…why is this a question? They ban you for throwing games, that seems pretty obvious to me.

What he said hahaha.

  • Explain why you should get to betray for sniper and then be able to start another game and do it again? - Explain why you should get to quit out of games and then be able to start another game and do it again? - Explain why you should get to intentionally suicide and be able to start another game and do it again? It seems people like you can’t wrap your head around the fact that you are playing with actual real people and that you ruin their experience of playing a video game. I get massive satisfaction out of just thinking about people that reason like you are getting punished!

Well said Blainely!

You have no rights. Play nice or get out! Just the way I liked it in halo 3.

I agree with you, but what those who do get disconnected - seems like 343 should copy another feature from lol - make it so quitters can only rejoin the game they just left or have to wait till its finished to search for another.

because team killing, quitters, and afk-ers ruin multiplayer. I ended up 5v1 yesterday. everyone on my team quit except 1 guy and he was afk.

Apparently 343i have things in place that can tell the difference between a disconnect and a quit

If you get disconnected, then you obviously won’t get banned, just as if you betray for a snipe one game you won’t get banned for that either. However, if you consistently disconnect from game after game, then my argument still stands. You shouldn’t get to just start another game when you know you’ll probably disconnect. You still ruin a lot of actual people’s gameplay experience even though it’s not intentional. If you disconnect from a lot of games, then you will have to go fix your internet connection instead of just starting another game and ruin another 7 people’s next 10 minutes. If you get a 15 minute ban for disconnecting from 5 games during a day, then use those 15 minutes to go fix your internet.

Do they also have measures to distinguish between a yanked ethernet cord and a legitimate internet accident? I’m guessing the system could detect packet loss and degradation in quality to make a judgement call from there, but do we actually know?

Notice it stated “continuous.” 343 understands some players have unstable internet. If the player continues to disconnect, shuts off internet, signs off XBL, 343 will throw the ban on you.

Only problem is some people disconnected and they think it’s them quitting

Not a problem. There is a difference between quitting and disconnecting and that difference can be detected (to an extent) and the player punished accordingly. And like I said earlier, players won’t get punished for disconnecting every once in a while, only if it happens consistently. If a player consistently disconnects, then he shouldn’t get to just fire up another game and ruin another handful of real people’s experience.

Agreed. I understand disconnections - they happen, and there’s not much you can do about it. However, when somebody leaves every other game, you can apply a penalty with increasing severity.
